Gold Coast's list is certainly better than ours. They've got 17 players taken in the top 20 in the draft, including 8 players taken in the top 5, of which two are their starting midfielders.
Of those 17 players, 12 are clear best 22 and 11 played on the weekend. The other 5 are recent draftees...
I remember being concerned when we signed up Laird to a five year contract extension on the back of very little midfield form. I'm sure the thinking was that he could play that role long term, but I was concerned we made that call off too little evidence.
He's still signed to 2026, so if he's...
This is all well and good but we have to actually play them as midfielders, not keep waiting for the "next year" when it's all supposed to come together
Until we play them as mids, they aren't mids.
And everything we've done so far has been going the other direction, bringing back experience...
Not less than Gollant, the same. No difference. No impact
In the first half of the game
Rachele 7 disposals 0.0
Pedlar 2 disposals 0.1
Murphy 3 disposals 0.0
Keays 7 disposals 1.0
The smalls we already had on the ground had next to no impact aside from Rankine when he was in the midfield...
We played Rachele, Rankine, Pedlar, Murphy and Keays. That's plenty of ground level players yet we were awful at ground level
Adding a sixth small forward would have made no difference. It was down to the effectiveness of the players we had on the field
The same players that kicked our goals in the last quarter were on the field for the entire match when we had scored 1 goal in a half
The issue was our awful disposal into 50 and our smalls being in the wrong positions to capitalise
Yep, we had enough of them, they just didn't do anything for the first three quarters largely
We could have played shorter, the talls did absolutely nothing, but it wasn't a big factor in the loss. We probably still lose with travelling emergency McHenry in for Gollant
I mean this is what a Devil looks like

All they've done is make the actual Tasmanian Devil more flowing and aggressive (and less ratty) which seems fitting for an AFL club
