Also would love to see Yeo work on his forward craft and perhaps be tried as that Dusty role of being able to play one out in the goal square for parts of the game. We have enough fire power in the middle with Kelly coming in to give it a try and Yeo has all the tools to do it. Would make us...
Sure we're giving up a lot, but Kelly and Yeo can be the stars in our midfield for the next 5 years or so which is huge for the club long term. Will just have to get some high value for our late picks like the hawks have done in recent years getting Worpel for example. A goalkicking star...
There are some serious nuffies on that Geelong board... certainly provided me with some good laughs.
I think Shiel's trade value from last year is about bang on for what Kelly is worth this year which was 9 and a future first for Shiel and a future second. Id say 14 and a future first is close...
I would've thought Cole and Rotham, along with Watson is pretty good half back depth. Rotham could have a breakout year next year with the way he's been tracking. Midfield depth is far more worrying for me.
Needs to use his hands in close in the stoppage to free up other players, has very underrated hands and core strength and can often free up space for others while under pressure. Unfortunately does opt to chuck it on the boot a lot, which sometimes isn't really his fault admittedly. His main...
Why the lack of interest in SPP? I think our midfield could do with another inside bull who has a thirst for the contest and tackling. This would allow Shuey and Yeo to get on the outside a bit more rather than being relied upon to do all the grunt work. SPP is still young and has a very high...
Think Hutch tagging works better when its on the wing or half forward. He seems to disrupt our balance in the middle when hes tagging in there and were way more dangerous maximising the amount of times Yeo, Shuey and Sheed are in there. Would perhaps look at tagging Houli to try and disrupt...
Sheppard should be a lock. Not only winning his fair share of the ball and being crucial for us on the rebound but also does a job on some of the comps best forwards. Been our best defender throughout the entirety of the year.
Home ground definitely helped us lift in that game but yes we can still win if it's wet obviously, it'd just be a much harder task due to the strengths of each team. Think we could win by 6 goals again like earlier in the year if its a really good day for forwards.
My gut tells me we win if its another dry day, similar to the game at the G earlier where our forwards can get on top. If it's wet, their superior midfield depth and short forward line might beat us.
Would love to see Franky Watson get a game as a like for like. Can't see them taking the risk though as hes a brain fade machine at times and might take too long to adjust to AFL pace. His attack on the ball, pace and agility has always really impressed me and he plays a style of footy made for...
Good to see Sheed step up in the third quarter when we needed our mids to. He along with Shuey were very instrumental in getting some momentum our way.
Yeo was simply elite all game except for a few rush of blood to the head moments. His last minute got us the win.
All this hate and controversy involving us has just made me more involved and glued to this season. Have never wanted a win so badly this week to prove we arent pushovers come finals even without key players. Time for the boys to really dig deep and play for the pride of the club. If we go all...
Bring in Nelson and Sheed, with Jetta/Nelson covering Gaff's outside run and Dom hopefully finding some form to give extra midfield grunt.
Alternatively we could try Watson who would take Cole's spot, moving Cole into Jetta's half back position and Jetta taking Gaff's role.
Still second though and if we bounce back hard from this were gonna get top 2 so not all is lost. That home qualifying final will be so sweet if we get it. :rainbow:
What a terrible performance. Hopefully were saving our form for the finals cause it was the most sluggish and heartless performance i've seen this year. Awful team selection, need 4+ changes next week imo.
Looks mentally shot, a shadow of his former self. Im his biggest fan but something is not right with him and he's struggling big time. Needs some confidence and a good reminder of how to play basic football (keep his feet, tackle etc.). I'm not sure where his core strength has gone cause he was...
Sheed played almost the whole game on the HFF with small stints in the midfield. No clue why they are playing him there. He looks like a guy who isn't sure of his role in the team.
Sheed comes in surely, Collingwoods midfield is very strong and I feel we lacked quality midfield rotations past our first 4. Good development game for Ainsworth but his kicking was very poor and we need production as I doubt our 4 top mids will all get 30+ again. If Ainsworth stays then Ah Chee...
I have seen him play many times this year, its not a whole lot different to watching Nelson and Jetta play in terms of having monumental brain fades. Watson has always been one of the more impressive players on the ground when he plays for EP in my opinion, and hes still quite young with a...
Yes that was a mistake, but rushing a quick kick from a stoppage in the D50 is an error i've seen even top tier midfielders do at AFL level, simply because there is so much pressure. Bit harsh to call out that as a flaw in his game today when he offered great attack on the contest and good...
Watson was terrific I thought, he may be prone to making mistakes sometimes but it's hard to fault his game today. Partington and Brander worked hard all day too. Brander may benefit from some AFL grade service.
I get that and he can tackle well which is a bonus. Im just wondering if it's really worth having him get 18 disposals at 22% efficiency (7 clangers) while Mitchell has 28 disposals. I know Mitchell wasn't hugely effective but he isn't always the most damaging player anyway.
