As some kind of a comparison, about a month or so ago a senior Cairns player was given 9 weeks for punching a 20 year old behind the play breaking his jaw. He's been charged. Provocation was alleged at the tribunal hearing.

Probably the reason why AFL Cairns reps are doing the rounds of all clubs this week with umpire abuse as the agenda. It's not just Cairns - a TSL umpire in Hobart was assaulted in town after a match on Saturday night by a so-called "supporter" of a club - front page news in The Mercury.

Is it correct that a NW club signed on players last season for $X but because they went over the salary cap then the players received a % of what was owing? Sounds very odd if true.

Just wondering what benefit any club would gain to pay money to appeal a MRP decision to the tribunal especially when the footage clearly shows a player simply attempting to end a hold.
