They are also experts at absorbing physical pressure and either breaking tackles or disposing of the ball effectively
Makes it hard to contain them once they get hands on a loose ball following a skill error or fumble
Yes Martin is robbing him of some distribution duties but Redman’s intercept game including his marking has been off, and that’s not on Martin.
Redman doesn’t look as clean in the air and around the contest as he can be at his best.
Wright, Goldstein, Draper?
Yesterday worked better than I had imagined. Largely thanks to a better Draper game, and good team pressure.
Feel like Wright struggled to get any separation after quarter time and our inside 50 targeting was pretty lame through the middle of the game.
Still...
Yeah I had a lot of feelings at full time but waking up today I’m happy with the result.
I always come to hate the premier but OMG Collingwood and their supporters are smug - like they haven’t just won a flag, they’ve cracked the code of footy.
Even Macrae who I fundamentally like.. I so...
We’re getting to the stage where some trades of very good players going out will make sense. You can take LDU as an FA and trade out someone. Hobbs? Parish? Setterfield? You end up with a better midfield plus more promising kids. Just hope we keep Baldwin as the chairs get shuffled.
If everyone...
That’s an off day for Buckets. Just couldn’t clunck them and looked uncomfortable a few times. To be fair there were more punters looking on today than there were cumulatively in all the wins he had at North over 8 years.
Cox is slower
Hobbs is fast enough when he has decided to give it.
Watching him it feels like he spent his junior footy years never giving the first option, always dodging and weaving. Can’t get away with that.
Definitely not running on top of the ground for whatever reason. Losing a few...
Yep it’s just like when Mark Waugh finally got a go. He’d been watching Steve get every chance. They dropped Steve and Mark gracefully stroked 138 against the Poms on debut at Adelaide Oval.
ADJ had zero tackles today
We are giving a bunch of midfielders small forward minutes because the small forwards aren’t ready to own the spots. We get adequate-ish contribution from Hobbs, Parish etc when they are forward but there are shortcomings.
I imagine we would look a bit different...
His handball is actually quite improved this season believe it or not. Was historically terrible previously
Anyhow, you can see where he is heading as a player and I reckon he will get there… in about 4 years
It would be a game changer for the club if we end up with even one elite small forward out of the Daveys and Tex Wanganeen.
I am enjoying Alwyn's cleanliness with the ball and his chase down tackles / pressure. Would only have to be that little bit more involved to go from ok to very good...
I’m extremely worried about this structure.
Collingwood have the skill and dare to break us on transition. Our only hope is to take this promising forward press to its next level. That seems impossible to me in this format. If only takes one loose player to create overlap.
I think we are seeing that if both are playing the ball no-one will be suspended.
Agree that under current rules two people could technically get suspended if both bumped.
And I have to say.. that would be pretty cool.
Contrary but I think it’s starting to work well. He’s getting better week by week. With Ridley out, Redman has had to defend more. We need run and spark and we are getting that from Martin.
I reckon he’s being punished here for duffing a hero kick or two a game. Aside from those it’s...
