Folks talking about Mooroopna being a challenger this year. Haven't won a flag since 1986. Brave in their loss to Echuca last week. Euroa have challenged but their last was in 1990. Rochester's last Flag was 2008 and all three obviously having a crack this year ... Who of the three (exluding the...
Some outs are worth noting. For instance, a Kyabram without Mick Mattingly, and Lachie Smith is a different beast to the side when they both play. Yes every team has injuries but some are more significant than others.
Dirty Williams leading the boys through Tatura's group pre-game in 1992 and the mountain that was Greg Dax wanting to confront him. Tank McPhee's commentary is priceless.
Early days yet but the Echuca press kills most teams in this competition as it is so well coached. I cannot see Mooroopna beating Echuca unless they are brave and take on the press. Every club will get their chance as Echuca become the hunted!
Mooroopna's recent record suggests they have as...
Surely in this electronic age clubs aren't holding bags of cash for footy trips ...
Some clubs have bags of cash for other reasons. But that is club managed.
I think Mooroopa and think Graeme 'josh' Kendell, Bomber Reid, Gary Cooper and Gary 'Crazy horse' Cowton. They had some ripping teams in the '80's. I think Chris Smith (ex- Fitzroy) was Coach at one point prior to a stint at Echuca.
Yes Swoop!! That is the man. He was definitely the man I was thinking about as he was controversial but knew his footy. He and others mentioned made the Shepparton News worth a read.
EDIT: Tom Carey was indeed another.
Unlike today's sock puppets!
Underwood was great. I recall the Kilgour twins being pretty prominent in the Shepparton news and commentating GF's in the 80's/Early 90's. There was another reporter ...head of sport/football at the Shepparton News around that period ... can't think of his name but he would make some bold...
Tigers are coming from a fair way back Swoop. The next three weeks are Kyabram, Tatura and Echuca so that might tell a story. Hopefully they can win at least a couple of those.
They didn't have Joe Atley, McCarty, O'Conner, Wren, Marrone, and recruits McGee or Heine against Benalla. Not sure of...
Huge win for Tatura over Seymour. We will need to have a rethink about those two sides.
As most suspected Echuca smacked United. Shepparton should be pleased with their win over Mansfield. O-2 for the Eagles.
Rochy comfortable winners over the Saints with plenty missing from the Senior side.
Not sure mate. Fingers crossed but Jarrod Waite kicked plenty last year against the Tigers and we have Benalla first up.
Hopefully they can stop the big man on Saturday
Off topic I know, but tried to open the batting against Tongala pair Brad Campbell and Scotty Hansen back in the day. Scott was very lively on occasion.
A couple of other handy footballers who were brisk back then were Echuca's Tim Edgar and John McDonald.
