It’s time to ruck the Casboult.

    List Mgmt. New List Manager

My hope is that while Eddie is taking games from youngsters the youngsters (and more mature types) playing along side of him will develop their forward craft quicker and better that if Eddie wasn’t playing.

I think this is your best paragraph. I really don't think much else needs to be said.

Yes, we will probably never know for sure. At least the club is clear on what the members think of the negative scenario.

Yes, I agree that there is nothing wrong with a committee per se as long people who have a job to do are allowed to do their job. The committee should be there to make sure the work is being done to an acceptable standard and the direction of that work remains in alignment with the agreed...

I guess we can put to bed any doubt that "there is no way the new list manger will be able to operate independently of Liddle and Lloyd", given SOS was having to run important selection decisions past a sub-committee.

You'd reckon the List Manager would have the right of veto, because after all it's his reputation on the line. If everything is being decided by a committee I can see why SOS was frustrated. That sounds like excessive oversight to me.

So does this mean you agree with me that there is no way the next appointee will be allowed to operated independently of Lloyd and Liddle? Apparently this is a controversial statement. I assumed it was somewhat obvious.

Most of the time your amusing. Sometimes you seem bored (imo).

Becuase sos was a board appointment so he had more scope to implement the rebuild plan that was approved by the board. The new list manager will be appointed by Lloyd and Liddle, so there will be an expectation that the new appointee reports to them.

    List Mgmt. New List Manager

There is no way the next list manager will be able to operate independently of Lloyd and Liddle. That’s pretty much the whole reason they wanted to get rid of SOS isn’t it? People could argue that the List Management role should be integrated more with the club, but I’m not one of those...

It certainly is handy having a head of footy who knows about list managment.

I’d much prefer the new appointee to have an intimate knowledge of football and not just oversight skills. David Walls wouldn’t be a terrible selection on the face of it.

Most people prefer to go forward in their careers, not backwards. He’s been there, done that. Surely there are other worthy candidates for the job?

Splitting hairs. Stamos's argument is still valid. If this was the driver behind the decision to release SOS it could have been orchestrated gracefully, rather than a complete shit show.

    Bluemour Melting Pot XXII

Well that's the problem isn't it. How are you going to get Blair Hartley, or any other top echelon list manager to take the job after Carlton mangled the departure of SOS so badly. It hardly screams house in order. The other issue they have is the hard work has basically all been done. Would...

    Universal Love Thank you SOS

I get the whole difficult situation thing with SOS having sons at the club. I get him leaving because of it. What I don’t accept for one minute is the way this has all been handled and the shameless interference in list management by parties that had no business being involved. Now because of...

Not the backbone, the whole list. And not helped, masterminded it. Pathetic statement. Give him some for me too please.

I’m sure they took that all into account. Let’s not make excuses.

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

Yeah, I don't agree. Deluca played 6 games and got plenty of the ball but his lack of class was pretty obvious when compared with Gibson, who in my opinion is a much better comparison than Jones. I don't even think Gibson is best 22 when we have a relatively healthy list and he's heads and...

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

Totally disagree. All he had to do was show the requisite class and he couldn't do it.
  22. Nori

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

The reason Deluca did not succeed had nothing to do with him being played out of position imo. From what I saw he lacked composure, dropped marks and missed targets. SOS was right to question his selection.
  23. Nori

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

Enough is enough. It's time for the club to come out an make a statement about SOS's future and also clear the air. I don't care who does it but it needs to be done sooner rather than later, because this whole issue is ramping up at the rate of knots
  24. Nori

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

Apart from the leaks to the press, which could have come from anywhere, this is great. SOS has strong views on the independence of the list management process and if he sees an issue then why not convey it to the board and what they do with it after that is up to them. Interestingly when SOS...

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

As long as Liddle’s wings have been clipped and he knows his place then this fracas will not have been in vein. Already we have seen no sight of Liddle at the draft nights which is a huge positive. The club simply cannot let marketing types have a say in list management decisions and that’s...

He’s sticking up for his old man and addressing the rumours that SOS is leaving because of his performance. Silvagni’s stick together as all families should. When the dust settles let’s just hope all parties can move on without animosity.
  28. Nori

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

We say this like Liddle is a Carlton man. He’s probably more Richmond if the truth be known. That’s why he doesn’t understand the seriousness of what he’s done forcing SOS out. One false move and he’s now toast.
  29. Nori

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

JSOS was liking a tweet today saying Liddle didn’t like the carte blanche that SOS had been given by MLG to rebuild the list. Started going behind SOS’s back and approaching players directly. Seems legit.

    Opinion Stephen Silvagni

I think the board may have made a huge mistake by siding with Liddle over SOS. Any membership gains Liddle had hoped to make by bringing in Eddie will be offset by what they will loose with SOS departing in acrimonious circumstances. To my way of thinking Liddle is now well and truly on notice.
