VFL VFL 2024 - Geelong & the greater league

Agree hard to get a game in the team which is great. But through the season hopefully a game pops up for him. Players will be managed, injured etc and if he doesn’t get a game this year hard to see him staying on the list next year.

VFL VFL 2024 - Geelong & the greater league

Haven’t been able to see a lot of vfl the last year or so. He’s put up consistent numbers, it’d be good to see him have a run in the seniors to see how he handles the step up.

Preview Cats V North Sun April 14 1pm @ GMHBA

Yes but it’s not looking like I’ll be able to attend now. Great to have a good member recognition event, hopefully there’s some more.

    AFL Round Five potential milestones:

Yeah but the 5 night flags were pre season games! That’s my point

    AFL Round Five potential milestones:

That’s always been the case, same as those other matches. Never really used to be spoken about until after a player retired though. It’s the same as most sports recognising other professional games the player has played. Do you not recognise 5 day and 5 night time premiership player Dermott...

Review Cats drown Hawks by 36 points in Tommas 350

Yes I’ve been thinking that as well, not sure they’ll be keen to switch him during the season. But when Guthrie and Danger are back it’ll be a tight squeeze if the current mids maintain form. He’s a different player to Holmes but he could add some run and lock down ability down back on some smalls.

Review Cats drown Hawks by 36 points in Tommas 350

What a bizarre but great game to watch live. Plenty of our top players were big contributors today. But what I liked was Mullin, Kolo and plenty of young players had really good games. I’m not a big fan of either Kolo or Mullin but they were both really strong in the contest today. Conway had...

Rumour GFC 2024 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

I think the areas we should look to improve are midfield, ruck and small defenders. The ruck could be solved by Conway longer term but we need someone to replace Stanley who can play each week if required and at least play a consistent competitive game. got a good group of young mids coming...

    Game Day Rd 1 Geelong V StKilda Sat 16th Mar 2024 730pm @ GMHBA

All the Jhye Clark haters are going to be disappointed his attack on the ball and player tonight has been fantastic. Working really well as a duo with Bruhn.

Review Preseason hit out against Dons and Review

Lots of good signs in this game for the team. Holmes, Clark and Neale impressive from the youngsters. Our forward group is among the best couple in the league. And I think there enough to compete in the midfield particularly if some of the younger players can stand up. Concern for me is down...

    2024 Membership Discussion

Another season about to commence and no sign of any of the membership packs. Same thing every year, takes multiple emails to get the packs sent out and they usually arrive after the games have started.

    Prediction Jhye Clark 2024

Not an issue longer term but can’t Clark play any other positions? I’d love to see him get lots of games but it’s hard getting games as an inside mid early in your career. If he can spend some time in those games off half back or half forward it’d help get him more games. Might be worth playing...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

I’ve been as keen as anyone to add to our rucks, but they have added two this off season. Edwards doubtful he can play afl this year but without seeing him maybe furphy is at a stretch. I’m happy we’ve at least invested in developing rucks, hopefully Conway can stay injury free. Edwards looks...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

I mean anything can happen but he seems a pretty mature guy who has made some moves already out of his hometown to find experiences that many kids his age would struggle with. Would assume he’s also got strong family and/or community behind him to support him with all that. Laid some big...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

Humphries looks an exciting prospect could be a good running defender. Has already travelled overseas, moved schools to get a better chance to get drafted, captained his school team and been in the eagles and indigenous academies.

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

Where’s our list numbers at? Do we still have two list spots and no rookie list spots? So we might be looking at pre season or ssp players to fill the last two spots?

I don’t know if that’s a joke but it’s true and I think will help us improve. Hopefully some of the older guys can get pushed out by some young talent coming through.

I can’t answer that, maybe he developed a little late or just slipped through the cracks

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

Not sure but he’s been consistent across the vfl with high possessions and goals. And he’s known as a hard working player on the track. Seems a pretty safe bet, time will tell what his ceiling is once he’s been at the club and been exposed to the afl system.

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

The thing with Mannagh that other mature age models don’t always have is pace. He’s a goal kicking mid or wing and has speed to breakaway from stoppages. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him star for us next year, he’ll have some other grunt mids around him that’ll let him burst out and deliver or...

The fact they said Edwards has a bit of mongrel and he said he’s been learning from Sean Darcy is encouraging. Didn’t gain much from his interview but I hope he’s better at footy than speaking.

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

What are the knocks on Archer Reid or reasons why we wouldn’t take him if he’s available? I guess he’s a similar player to Neale but otherwise he seems a good fit for our list. And although maybe not as many tricks as Caddy he’s a genuine height of key forward and could be a potential Hawkins...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

That’s early for Mannagh, but he looks like he could play a role at afl level as a forward and potentially as a mid and he’s only 26 so mature but he’s got some years ahead.
