How far he plays from goal is absolutely to do with RTB. For most of the season Ballantyne played as the deepest forward, now Walters is. Matera hasn't played in that position all year.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that our forwards shouldn't run and chase.
Just saying it's hard to kick goals from the half back line, and Matera's heat maps show that he doesn't spend very much time close to goal.
It's obviously all Matera's fault, those 100 games he played at a different club where he averaged more goals per game than Freo's leading goalkicker every year were just a fluke,
They haven't though. Their arguments have been along the lines of "He didn't mean it" or "Other people got less". Both these things may well be true, but that isn't how the tribunal works. If you want to plead not guilty or challenge the verdict, then you need to actually be able to illustrate...
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree that refusing to lick a rent-a-cop's boot is "doing something wrong".
When you wait all week for an event and then get kicked out with no explanation (or refund), people are hesitant to leave with no questions asked. It's obviously never happened to you...
Yes, you'll certainly see known superstar players still polling votes in losses, but very rarely anyone else.
Cripps is in the top 3 of the votes and Carlton have only won 1 game so it does happen. But generally the majority of votes go to the winning side.
I'd like to see the coaches give...
This is so far from true it's farcical. Cameron didn't line Andrews up at all - Andrews was backing back into a marking contest, one of the most courageous acts in footy, and he found out why it's considered so courageous. Cameron raised his elbow which is why he got 5 weeks, but calling it a...
Definite "often" though. This isn't the first time that it's happened this year. It's always kind of annoyed me that it's very difficult to get votes unless your team wins, even in a very close game. Actually makes the final vote tally meaningless because it's more a reflection of how many games...
Makes me so happy to know that we are slightly better than teams like Carlton.
But hey, let's not compare ourselves to anyone successful, that would be ridiculous.
Hard to believe that in a game decided by only 9 points, the best 5 players on the ground were all Freo players.
All of these voting system rapidly become a joke because of the apparent need to only award votes to players from the winning team.
Because winning this week is the only thing that matters amiright? Screw player development and our future best 22, we can't win this week so let's just throw darts at a board.
