    Rumour Bluemour Discussion XLI

I think it's not so much that he played, but that we continued playing him for so long. Laura Kane made specific mention of only taking him off for good for the last 20 mins of the 4th. I think that's where the main fault is, not him taking the field at all.

Which are Leigh Mathews and Mick Malthouse. So none for nearly 20 years. It's not something that happens much these days.

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

Goes to show the value of a kicking coach... soft cap maybe prevents clubs from hiring them but given the impact displayed it's a huge oversight imo.

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

But it's not as easy as that. Yes there's those who are naturally good kicks, but it can also be developed with good coaching and development programs. Obviously like you say drafting someone with those assets would be ideal, but it's not always so easy. I have no doubt other clubs will have...

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

As another poster said, First Crack showed a couple. They have done multiple times a year on him because it happens so regularly. Listen to how they talk about him

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

Saad is regularly exposed off the ball. He's great when engage in a 1v1 contest. In fact, I'd say he's elite there. But it's when he's not directly in the contest that his man frequently exposes him. Essendon openly criticised him for it while he played for them, it's not exactly a new thing.

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

I agree with almost everything, however, I would add Cripps to the improves category. He won 2x Brownlows under Voss and almost skippered us to a GF. He touched the edges of becoming a mid-fwd in the ilk of Dangerfield and Martin. Not to their level of fwd, but in the ballpark, which is why he...

Hot Topic Michael Voss - Okay, he's gone ... but when?

First Crack last night was kind to Voss. Very kind. King has said in the past he doesnt like whacking Vossy because he likes him, and I think that's true broadly, he's very respected in the industry as a man. However, his takeaway that it's on the players is fingernail deep analysis, and he...

That's not really true though, is it. It's not fair amongst all teams, why do you think the Saints have protested all of it so hard? How many have they had? What about Freo, GCS ans GWS who haven't existed long enough to get close to a F/S for another 10 yrs? Adelaide and Port barely have...

    Autopsy AFL 2026 Round 8 - Crows v Port Fri May 1st 8:10pm AEST/7:40pm (AO)

19 tackles and 29 disposals with 650 metres gained is an elite inside-outsids game by a mid. Deserved winner imo, Milera was great too but 19 tackles is immense.

Forgot about that one, but yes it also was. This idea that F/S is just this little rule that doesn’t effect much and it's actually the academies that are causing all the issues is a fallacy.

Depending on the fallout from the Walkers and opting out of next generation with Richmond, they may choose to bid on Cochrane over Walker out of goodwill to them. To be frank, Cochrane is potentially rated higher anyway, so would be more reasonably bid on anyway.

Collingwood built a premiership on the back of F/S and Brisbane have as well and have secured their future post premiership so won't have the usual fall away after a premiership era. F/S are creating inequity in the draft all on their own, it's not just an academy issue.

Our top guys have carried the team and been the only reason we've had relevancy at all. Now they can't do it on their own the lack of depth is sorely exposed. It's not even the bottom 6 that's the issue, it's the bottom 12 if not more that let us down.

I've noticed with most of the media outlets using Ashcroft as the picture in their articles too. No mention of Daicos, couldn't possibly bring up their premiership on the back of F/S picks for cheap or else we'll upset them.

The only (and I mean only) thing St Kilda are good at is shifting narrative away for their own mediocrity - which is an insult to the term mediocrity. They're experts at it, and their coach especially is a 3x Michelin starred narrative manipulator. Having said that, they get away with it...

Yeah that's fair. I've forgotten his name now but that ruckman would be a shout as well, though with the pick benefit now you'd bid first for the free pick.

I suspect Cochrane will be pick 1. All things equal he's probably the no.1 prospect. Walker 2 or 3. I feel like Walker in a live draft going at 1 would be a mild-moderate surprise at this point, so hopefully we're alright.
