I spoke to a Eltham supporter and sort of expressed the same thing. Their comment was that the Football Club doesn’t necessarily get the $ support that most think and that the Wildcats Basketball gets more community based sponsorship. Not sure how true but that’s what was said.
Junior club is still strong. Not the biggest but never has been.
Lower have done extremely well in consolidating the 19’s and I think have 40 plus on that list.
From what I’ve seen their training numbers are solid and had near 60 on track Wednesday inc one who will be more than handy if he...
AFL players pay taxes Denny. Not too sure a local footballer would be going to court over restraint of trade, when they don’t declare earnings from that trade. I may be wrong though.
Been an ongoing issue for years. Depending on who you talk to, some say the footy club has been reluctant to miss a season due the prospect of losing money, others say it’s the cricket club who aren’t keen. I was of the belief that it was getting done last season and that was from someone at the...
Yeah it’s interesting, you compare them with a Macleod and you think that Eltham are located with a town centre, you’d think greater avenues to be better off financially, arguably bigger and better access to junior talent, bigger supporter base, I’d doubt if Macleod have spent overs in recent...
Agreed they’re not easy. I think my point was more about why Eltham either don’t have the resources, or don’t take advantage of them if they do. Despite their lack of success on the div 1 stage, they are a big well supported club with and ever improving facility that should be financially...
All the stuff you mentioned is great but as a whole they seem to be a club that can never quite grasp the opportunities afforded them. Go back to the days of Phil Maylin coaching and all the promise and hype over that appointment, along with the recruiting of Cox, Martin and Contessa. Plenty of...
Which begs the question. Why is a club that sits in the engine room of the shire, a substantial history of good juniors, large supporter base and a long heritage not only playing finals in Div 1, but hugely successful at it? Is it poor administration, poor choice of coaches or a lazy culture...
Geez they haven’t even played a game yet, coming off 1.5 wins for the whole season, struggled to field 2 sides and now they have serious delusions of grandeur. Next you’ll be telling us that your coach is going to play, stand on blokes heads and kick 100 goals. Keep the comedy coming:tearsofjoy:
Just a follower of all divisions. Watch Mont and Macleod mostly in div 1. The odd div 2 game, very rarely watch div 3 but have been known to venture up the Hill;)
Haha. Only one account. If for nothing else these Turtle boys may provide a bit of fun for the forum. Will be interesting to see who they sign though, but I doubt they’ll be anywhere near top 6 let alone top 2.
They are certainly making all the running at this stage, but cast our minds back to this time and beyond last year and we all had Eltham as flag favourites by a country mile as well.
