A wild game, but I too could not help thinking throughout that despite the heroic comeback, that team was destined for a decade in the wilderness whereas the Dogs went on to win a flag the next year. And then in the corner, North is towelling up Richmond, only to think that that Richmond side...
Owens is a truly putrid set shot in every sense. To my mind, that is a very significiant reason why we should not be deploying him in a position which will result in forward 50 marks.
I think you're probably right. Kudos to Ross for giving full credit to an opposition player in a losing side. Can't say the same for Yze. To award 10 of a possible 15 votes to Richmond in a game where they lost (and on most measures comprehensively outplayed for 3 quarters) is a poor reflection.
There's barely any point looking ahead and predicting our win-loss in a month's time. It's a very, very even competition right now. I expect we'll be in most matches and just need to make the most of our luck and opportunities (which we have not done to date).
Wonder if Jones will sub again as part of managing his minutes given his history. Played less than 50% last week, (probably more than expected given Wood).
Hotton is the disappointing one. He seems to have had a full preseason, is not some rangy tall who is a slow burn, and yet seems to have been surpassed by the newest drafties.
Hoyne's commentary is very interesting and encouraging. But I reckon that Wood and Henry out is really going to test our ability to keep up that system. Both are big parts of our end to end ball movement in different ways, and neither is going to be easily replaced.
I don't think he is being helped by the fact that has "utility" attributes. I'd much prefer if he was settled into a single position. At the moment it feels like he's getting a bit of the Josh Battle treatment.
Removing the player from the team is what avoids the test. Whether something feels like an "offence" is not really the standard - if it is one it should be easily verified.
It's not clear to me what code has been violated, what is criminal (per Edmunds), and what is the "voluntary policy". All very ambiguous in the reporting.
