Preview 2024 Mid Season Draft Prospects & Discussion

Loved this guy as a junior; always unsure why he slipped off the radar. Can any of the draft watchers shed some light? Souup

It'd be ****ing awesome to be honest.

    List management 101 (69?)

My biggest concern is that, for all of our 'obsession with midfielders', I still don't think we have the makings of a premiership-winning midfield. Losing Thomas and JHF has absolutely gutted our top-end clearance stocks to the point where its LDU or bust. I like Simpkin and Wardlaw but neither...

Smilie looks so much like Tom Green, & perfectly rounds out our midfield.

Player Watch #31: Josh Goater - re-signed until the end of 2025 - ruptured Achilles injury vs GWS

Kyron didn't fail because of the achilles though. His athleticism looked pretty good after (as good as ever), just lacked any composure and struggled to read the play- don't think we ever saw him use his leap at AFL or VFL level.

Who will be our best in 5 years??

How is LDU not an option? He'll be 29, coming off a Brownlow or close to.

    Training Training reports 2024

Sam Lowson. He's a jet, but is 29 and lacks a bit of polish. I'd love to see him get a shot at a contender, or even with us if he's tearing it up mid-season, but probably unlikely at this point.

    Player Watch #36: Tyler Sellers

His attack on the ball in marking contests is probably already the best on our list. A little undersized, but he has a great leap, positions himself really intelligently, and always brings the ball to ground. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he plays every game alongside Larks- so pumped for him.

News Puma - North's new apparel partner

They’re (were) actively sponsoring teams in the illegal settlements, it’s a pretty blatant endorsement of colonialism & genocide. Not like the teams were just buying their products.

Review 2023 National Draft Review Thread II [McKercher, Z.Duursma, Goad, W.Dawson, Hardeman, Maley]

Reckon Green is one of our targets, and potentially who we're trading up for.

Review 2023 National Draft Review Thread II [McKercher, Z.Duursma, Goad, W.Dawson, Hardeman, Maley]

Reckon we’d take Will Green, then try to trade back in with a future 2nd for Collard/Hardeman/Dawson

Review 2023 National Draft Review Thread II [McKercher, Z.Duursma, Goad, W.Dawson, Hardeman, Maley]

Reckon Duursma projects to be Connor Rozee-esque at AFL level. Very similar play styles and athletic profiles, although Zane is taller, has a bigger leap, and isn’t quite as fast.

News Puma - North's new apparel partner

Absolutely, hope we cut ties asap. Will be writing to the club- affiliation with Puma is against everything we stand for.

    Player Watch #28: Bigoa Nyuon

"A member of St Kilda’s Next Generation Academy, Nyuon is an athlete who has testing results to be believed. A hard worker with some great goal celebrations to boot, Nyuon recorded a 92cm running and 73cm standing vertical leap, as well as a 2.86-second 20m sprint and 8.24-second agility test...

Cute picture, but I’m pretty unconvinced that Cooper is on the list come 2025- not really the guy to be building a team around.

WC should take the Melbourne offer. 6, 11 and a F1 is an amazing deal for one player, and hopefully more than we’d be prepared to cough up.

Love this for them tbh. Xavier is a hack, and Zane is another tweener/flanker/mercurial type. More of the same from Bard et al

It'll actually be pick 18: bids on Walter, Read & Croft as well as McKay compo will push it out.
