Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 7 - Tigers v Demons Wed April 24th 7:25pm AEST (MCG)

Kosi would be best served trying do the simple things right first, having a dead set mare

Autopsy Round 6, 2024 : Hawks skittle Roos

A big positive was our tackling was better. We need to improve further though, and there were plenty of contest where we should have destroyed the ball carrier where we didn’t. Our fluency on transition was also much better, but we still need to not let our half forwards drift too far up the...

Autopsy Round 6, 2024 : Hawks skittle Roos

First off, I’m not sifting through multiple threads of pure dribble across 2 boards, secondly, if you don’t think cowards on here delete posts when they’re wrong, i have an ugly bridge in London to sell you

Autopsy Round 6, 2024 : Hawks skittle Roos

Plenty of people on here were predicting a loss, no doubt they’ll come back critiquing what was a comprehensive win. We won, could’ve played better but you can make that argument for any game. We won. Day back next week, let’s move on and look at the positives.

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

Yeah, and it doesn’t always pay off. But, I think being be overly sincere with regard to players or your team in general is not what we should be about.

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

Couldn’t agree more. It remains to be seen if our decisions will pay off in the long term, but I am for the unsympathetic nature of it when it comes to sport. The kids need time and games, and given our list and injuries, games they’ll get.

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

Well, this thread was started last year, did you think we were tanking then?
  9. Jim Prideaux

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

I won’t, and fair enough. It’s good to have optimism coming into a season. I personally think this is tge most even league in terms of results I’ve ever seen. Have some luck, a mediocre team can make finals, have bad luck a good team can miss, and in any given match almost anyone can win, it...

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

What were your predictions for Essendon pre-season?

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

Alright, the obvious - no we aren’t tanking. The less obvious - until recently the AFL kind of encouraged teams to do it, however, with all the concessions in the draft and free agency, now they’re against it, sort of. Our performance is down from the end of last season, but up from the...

Depends how you look at it, oxygen over time does damage cells, so assuming nothing else was wrong with you, it does eventually.

    Oxygen is toxic though

MRP / Trib. Pickett elbow on Soligo

They’ve changed a boatload and look to be trialing even more in upcoming seasons - it hasn’t all gone smoothly, and honestly they’re in a tough spot. On the front on thing, if you are running forwards and get stopped in your tracks, it is a jarring action not dissimilar to being in a head on...

MRP / Trib. Pickett elbow on Soligo

The front on contact stopping someone in their tracks is far more violent than the majority of the tackles from yesteryear. Comparing our sport to the shambles that is professional boxing, or to MMA is not really helpful. NFL, NRL, Rugby Union are all trying to stamp out the same things, Union...

More congested, better organised team defences, fitter stronger players. It’s happening in all contact football codes

Preview Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm Sat 13th April, People First Stadium

Because Gold Coast have been thoroughly mediocre for their entire existence. Geelong and Hawthorn both had a small amount of success

A lot more front on tackling these days pretty heavy impact. Harder than back in the day.

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 4 - Suns v GWS Sunday April 7th 12:30pm AEST (Adelaide Hills)

Umpires seem to have gone a bit rugby Union this year, reward the team that is dominating in all 50/50 decisions.

Rumour Jeremy Finlayson under investigation - 3 game suspension

Pretty silly thing to do really, I don’t necessarily think JF is a homophobe, but punishment is required. A week or two and a donation to charity - pride cup?
  25. Jim Prideaux

Coach Alastair Clarkson - where is the pressure?

Have to agree, both North and Hawthorn have had a pretty rough start to the season in terms of the fixture. If they are still winless come the halfway point, then the blowtorch can be fairly applied, but I’d be waiting for now.

    Preview Round 4, 2024 : Collingwood v Hawks, 5:10pm Sunday 7th, Adelaide Oval

We also need to watch that our half forwards don’t all press to far up the ground, plenty of times we’d have the ball on the back flank and no one up field to kick to.
  27. Jim Prideaux

MRP / Trib. Pickett elbow on Soligo

They may have in the official rules, I’m not sure, but in practice they certainly have a good/bad bloke loading

Yeah, I agree and 1-2 would be my expectation, which means he’ll get 0 or 4
