For all you melters out there - I've been training AI models to predict outcomes of AFL games. It isn't perfect but it gives some decent insights.
Looking at the statistics with decent correlations with winning (my model uses these), Geelong had us covered. This is going by the last 9-10 (round...
Don't understand Ken's* thinking.
Losing clearances and having your fast running mids space get shut down.
Better put your big bodied mid who won a Brownlow two years ago at half forward and the wing.
Oh and the other big bodied sex pest mid. Nah keep him up forward.
They needed a big body...
After Butts out, crows key position defenders games played:
Keane - 5
Worrell - 12
Nankervis - 2
9 goals conceded against 65 inside 50s, against the side placed second on the ladder. Two of them from free kicks and one in junk time.
Yeah nah.
I don't think I've ever seen us do this. We manned up their spare man a kick behind play and forced 1 on 1 footy for most of the game. Unbelievable win. Master stroke.
Keays went 0-3 shots at goal.
On his 4th look he centred it instead to Gollant (I think) and we got a mark/goal. Hopefully he's going to be more team focused inside 50 from now on because we really needed that.
I'm one of his biggest critics but I think he gets a game in any teams midfield...
Good to hear the level of coaching going on. I've found that NBL1 (what I like to refer to as ABA) umpires are a decent standard and particularly are much better at calling offensive fouls as opposed to always calling blocking.
I will say the higher levels of umpiring are decent in SA.
As for...
Don't for a second think the court supervisors have solved anything.
The state of umpiring basketball in South Australia needs improvement and has for a while. Too many umpires do not understand basic travelling rules, particularly with pivoting and stepthrough moves. Foul calls are too...
Those arguing about Sloane 2022 should bet a carton on his performance. Something quantitative. Or in the spirit of Crom a bottle of Chardonnay or two.
I hate to say it but our forward line looked so much better without Rowe. He's just too slow right now to be impactful at AFL level, hopefully he can work on his speed.
I had him in a multi today for a goal. Stitched up.
Rowe has been instructed to play up the ground a bit more today to find the ball. Unfortunately today he was in no mans land. Wasn't quite up the ground enough getting the ball. Wasn't quite deep enough in the forward line to be involved in...
There was a free Lycett got for a hit in the ribs, but it looked like he went front on in the marking contest. I don't think they replayed it it but I could have sworn it looked like it should have been our free for front on. Did I not see it properly?
Ryder was noticeably jumping over ROB a fair bit in the second quarter. ROB then adjusted and took out his leap by positioning himself more forward and protecting the landing spot of the ball.
It was nice to see him adjust and it worked really well for us in the 3rd quarter.
I loved it when the commentators called out slops for being soft. Can't remember who said it. It was in the third quarter.
Boak kicked the ball straight to us so many times.
Forwardline structure had a big improvement this week. Tex playing deeper in the forwardline, and our forwards leaving the space open for him to lead into. Not having Jenkins really helped this structure. Was good especially when Tex was the starter in the goal square. Maybe he's better off as a...
I think we need to be careful before we label people as racists for disliking people based on their behaviour. I can see this blanket response causing long term issues.
If someone is behaving in a way that lacks morality or integrity, and you mention this, if they don't have your same skin...
Good call. At some point there needs to be a level of resilience built, otherwise if simple things are wrapped in cotton wool as mental health concerns it's hard to develop resilience and tackle tough life situations. Take nothing away from genuine mental health issues, they exist and can be...
