I agree they are senior footy. If done right and treated as senior footy it can be a good way to introduce players to the difference between senior and youth footy. Integrated training (seniors and colts) on occasions is a big start.

I agree Fan, that was the point I was trying to make. Don't forget Ormeau (new team) going straight into Div 4 last year and not winning a game all year. They bent their own rules and that was the outcome.

Not arguing whether they are capable of matching Div 4 or Div 5. No sleight on any of the teams who have been able to get a gig straight in Div 4, good on them. But the inconsistency of AFLQ applying their own "rules" is laughable.

I see AFLQ followed protocol with Maroochy starting in Div 5. Typical of AFLQ.

Something needs to change to reduce the barriers for clubs to get involved in Saturday footy. Even though existing teams don't want the extra competition the more we can help new clubs the better. The more the Friday night comps improve the less of a pathway they are for the Saturday comps...

It's an interesting predicament for the likes of Ormeau and Jindalee et al, who want to get to Saturday footy. How to attract enough Saturday players for two teams in a Friday night comp with one team? Maybe Div 3 needs to drop Reserves for those clubs wanting to play Saturdays but not enough...
