There's only one thing consistent with AFLQ decisions, they will bend/break them for their "favoured" (for lack of a better word) clubs or mates.
And it bites them more times than not.
Gents,
2 questions for this week!
Q1. While watching the football this weekend I noticed there feels like there are more "selfish" players in the league. I won't name names, but you probably know to whom I refer. Some of the celebrations when well behind on the scoreboard (and no milestone) are...
According to AFLQ, Fri night clubs rank less travel as the biggest priority, competitiveness was a distant 2nd.
And let's face it, with the year to year changes, unless AFLQ want to rate team lists (god help us), they have little chance of avoiding the discrepancies in performance.
Having said...
Excellent listening on Monday again lads.
You made some excellent points (in last week's podcast and pre match) about the effort still being there but they are not getting to the right areas etc. That certainly showed on Monday where everything changed with what seemed like a flick of a...
Gentlemen,
I am not buying into the message (post match coach and skipper presser today) that things aren't as bad, we were close to winning etc.
Sorry, but if we couldn't beat GC with how poorly they played we are kidding ourselves.
My thoughts are that we are seeing complacency (for lack of a...
Gents,
Thanks again for another year of the podcast. And for the best game commentary and interviews, hands down. Even with the AFL app glitching the timing, K-Rock is still far better than ch7 commentary (but is there any chance of getting the timing fixed or coverage extended?).
Did I hear...
Great call Saturday arvo. I couldn't stand Lyon and D King rubbish Geelong anymore and had to switch to radio stream which was ahead of broadcast (I couldn't correct but still better than Lyon & King, and Russell & Hudson's infatuation with Dusty). Unsurprisingly Lyon & King have continued their...
Unfortunately I had doubts about our performance before Monday's game. Conditions were ripe for us to have a stinker; a long break before the game (not quite a bye, but close) and an opponent we should easily put to the sword.
It's the perfect storm for Geelong unfortunately. Blind Freddy can...
I agree they are senior footy.
If done right and treated as senior footy it can be a good way to introduce players to the difference between senior and youth footy. Integrated training (seniors and colts) on occasions is a big start.
Excellent work this year gents. I only discovered the podcast half way through, but made my drive to training each week worthwhile.
I have tried to keep emotions out of assessment, but it is still too raw.
What I do know is that I don't like this carry on about having reached so many finals in...
Continue the good work Gents.
Watching the game Saturday night certainly reinforced the view that our game style no longer suits GMHBA's narrow wings. We kick it around before entering the 50 to pull them out and spread them, but there simply wasn't enough room at GMHBA.
A smart change given...
Gents,
Glad you like my profile pic. Us Rangi (my made up plural of Ranga) have to stick together (so long as it's shaded) [emoji1787].
I can't say I like the media infatuation with the GF going to Optus. You can't refer to the derby crowd (where both are fighting for a finals spot) as...
Do we have a continual problem with our Fwd50 entries. It seems to me that at times we just kick it in Hawkins general direction rather than to his advantage. He can pull off miracles but we can't expect that every time.
Taylor (like M Adams up in Brisbane) happened to be the beneficiary of...
From what I know about the Morningside coach etc if it is true, I imagine that player won't be welcome back at the club, to say the least

It looks like the game at Jimboomba is scheduled for Friday night. Tough trip from Maroochy! Probably didn't want a 6 day break before the GF
I agree Fan, that was the point I was trying to make. Don't forget Ormeau (new team) going straight into Div 4 last year and not winning a game all year. They bent their own rules and that was the outcome.
Not arguing whether they are capable of matching Div 4 or Div 5. No sleight on any of the teams who have been able to get a gig straight in Div 4, good on them. But the inconsistency of AFLQ applying their own "rules" is laughable.
Something needs to change to reduce the barriers for clubs to get involved in Saturday footy. Even though existing teams don't want the extra competition the more we can help new clubs the better.
The more the Friday night comps improve the less of a pathway they are for the Saturday comps...
It's an interesting predicament for the likes of Ormeau and Jindalee et al, who want to get to Saturday footy. How to attract enough Saturday players for two teams in a Friday night comp with one team?
Maybe Div 3 needs to drop Reserves for those clubs wanting to play Saturdays but not enough...
