I’d rather have kept him. The cupboard is bare for small forwards, and on the off chance his frail little mosquito rig could manage a game or two, he’s bloody good when he’s firing.
Can’t even claim recency bias with Duursma, he was absolute tripe in the last game he will ever play for us. I really don’t think we’re going to miss him.
I don’t think it’s out of line to say Jeremy Finlayson has been a disgrace to the jumper the last couple of months. He’s not just out of form, he shows utter contempt for the jumper every second that he’s out there.
Less Jackson Trengove chat and more ‘How are we getting all these blokes through the door?’ chat. Assuming we’ll do something intuitive to try and split next years first somehow?
This is the least of his issues. How about his sheer lack of any kind of effort when the ball is heading in his direction, him staying down every time hoping for it to fall out the back to him, or his first instinct to sook and complain and throw is hands in the air rather than apply a second...
Is there something wrong with Burgoyne? Our defence can’t be any worse, why aren’t we pumping games into this kid rather than flogging the same dead horses each week.
Why on earth would anyone want Bassett to coach us? He’s been part of that rot for far too long, and is in charge of a defence that has never looked as out of its depth as it does now.
I refuse to go to bed without potting DBJ as well. He is a genuine piece of s**t. A disgrace to our jumper. Never wear the bars again, put them to bed. An utter joke.
I’m all in on Dixon as number one ruck. I think it’s his best position, he looks so lost as a forward. Means Todd, Mitch and Finlayson can all play forward and Fin can chop out. Dixon looks just about cooked, may as well put him out of his misery and make him battle to the end.
I like Dumont. But there’s Bergman, as you mentioned. Sinn will develop. Bonner can’t defend so naturally would be more suited to the wing. Burgoyne I can see coming on and playing a wing if necessary. Houston could play on a wing if it was really necessary. Any number of our midfielders could...
Not too concerned. We have a lot of that type of player. I think it’s an overrated position anyway, there aren’t a huge amount of out and out wingmen these days, you need to have a mix of traits to your game. Good teams defend the whole ground and you’re basically just another midfielder.
I don’t think anyone has written off Duursma, he is a talent. But the thought that he’s completely untouchable in a trade to bring in top end talent is a bit ridiculous.
Geez what’s the fascination with Duursma… he’s a gut runner with average skills. I like him but let’s remember he played most of the year in the twos and we were bog ordinary this year.
