  1. These 4 Walls

Traded Tim Taranto [Traded to Richmond for #12 and #19]

We'd be ~25% chance to get a player as good as him at pick 13 and ~10% chance at pick 23. Seems like the safest play is to shake hands and get it done with both. We seem to take a pretty pragmatic approach to trading coinciding with our success, so hopefully that stays the same.

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

1 - It applies equally true the other way in regards to regularly paying them. Bias shown but see examples of Dusty against Pies, Bolton against Hawks and Bolton against Dons (just for the last 3 weeks). 2 - Prestia still had a shot for goal to come. Kicking it into the stand delayed that...

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

I guess that is where our opinions differ then. I don't think anything MADE him boot the ball into the crowd, so I see that as a decision he made that in turn delayed play. Either way, enjoy what's left of the night.

Please help me understand why play would mean time?

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

I think the umpires made the wrong call to use common sense, when I don't think it is how they act in the majority of situations. Though I understand why they did and if he was 125m out, don't think it matters either way. Regardless of the siren going, surely we agree that kicking the ball into...

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

A few people have said this, so apologies for replying to yours specifically. The rule doesn't mention time. It mentions play. Sure, it is unlikely Prestia can kick it threw 12 players from 65-75, though it is even more unlikely he kicks it threw 22 players from that distance. As per the...

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

What do you think it means by " After a field Umpire has signalled that play has come to an end, any field Umpire may award a Free Kick to any Player when a Player is preparing to Kick or in the act of Kicking for Goal. In such cases, the following shall apply" The wording makes it...

You should call whoever writes the rules and let them know then.

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

If the siren has gone, a free kick can ONLY be paid if someone is still to have a shot at goal right up until the goal umpire signals all clear or the ball becomes dead. As no-one was still to have a shot, Ginnivan wasn't able to get a free kick. It is how that example differs from tonight.

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

Dissent is literally a difference of opinion. The umpires are yet to have an opinion. How can you be showing dissent before an opinion is made? At that point it is just an appeal, similar to them wanting insufficient intent before a call is made one way or another. It seems like the umpires...

Autopsy AFL 2022 Round 11 - Swans v Tigers Fri May 27th 7:50pm EST (SCG)

They hadn't decided if it was fifty or not at that stage. How could they be holding a difference of opinion to the umpires before they had an opinion? Sure it could be after the no-50, though at that point it might as well be reversed.

Recommitted Tom Mitchell [contracted and staying at Hawthorn]

I think that is reasonable. Would you consider it fair for 15 + the Nth future 2nd for Mitchell + $250k of his salary covered for the next two years? I think with the different positions the two teams are in (despite drawing in the last game lol) we need to strike whilst the iron is hot, so I...

    Would You Trade Bailey Smith?

There are a lot of people who assume that being open to trading someone means they are no good. Surely the opposite is true, in that if they are no good then they are not tradeable? Right now, you'd get more in a trade for Smith than he has actually achieved. He has been an exceptionally good...
  15. These 4 Walls

Recommitted Jared Polec [contracted and staying at North Melbourne]

What would the rough cost be for Polec + Cunnington? As much as he was a whipping boy, we have never found a replacement for Brandon Ellis' run and McIntosh can play a defensive wing with Polec on the offensive side it could be a better fit than most. We've tried Caddy, Pickett, Parker, Naish...

Autopsy AFL 2021 Round 15 - Lions v Cats Thurs June 24th 7:30pm EST (Gabba)

Selwood is about as good in the air as Pearl Harbour. Think that + scoreboard damage costs him genuinely being in the conversation of the top tier midfielders of his generation.

News AFL to trial new zone rule in second-tier competition next season (Full rule changes inside)

I may have read it wrong, though the interchange cap, the lateral movement and the kick in manning of the mark are at AFL level?

News AFL to trial new zone rule in second-tier competition next season (Full rule changes inside)

Is there some form of action fans can take to show disapproval or disappointment in these changes without boycotting games or similar? Is there a way to make voices regarding the rules heard whilst still enjoying the other aspects of watching/going to the football?

News AFL to trial new zone rule in second-tier competition next season (Full rule changes inside)

Feels a bit like a misread of the room to have more 50m penalties for minor offences (lateral movement on the mark) Did they announce if this was just to make the existing overly harsh rule easier to police?
  20. These 4 Walls

Recommitted Josh Dunkley [OOC 2022, requested a trade to Essendon, didn't get there]

How many players will put their standing at their existing club under duress to say that want to go to a club that isn't willing to put up the required assets to make the trade in the future? It's purely reputational damage and some future opportunity cost, though it isn't exactly a no lose...

Traded Adam Treloar [traded with #26, #33 and #42 to Bulldogs for #14 and 2021 R2]

Would give up Richmond's first if we were paying 650-700 a year. He seems committed, a hard/fast runner & moves the ball forwards without really looking where he is kicking it or trying to pinpoint a pass. I think we would get more value out of him than most other clubs based on our style of...

Traded Adam Treloar [traded with #26, #33 and #42 to Bulldogs for #14 and 2021 R2]

Any chance Bucks told him that despite him wanting to stick around, a few of the leadership group thought he may struggle whilst apart from his family? It is hard to believe Bucks called him and told him Brodie & Scott had put his picture in the burn book, though it is also unlikely that...

Free Agency Isaac Smith [UFA to Geelong for 3rd round compensation pick]

He's not though, is he? Only 6 games did he attend better than 1/4 of centre bounces for the match. Centre bounce attendances for 2020. He and Menegola are 2 of the best 10 wingman in the game. There isn't an issue with Geelong targeting older players like Higgins or a more physical ruck...

Pickett's autobiography is apparently a ripper

From memory, didn't some supporters try to put together a "GoFundMe" for Marlion earlier this year that got knocked back around salary cap or similar? Think at the time it said he was supporting 4 kids on 80k-ish, before their salaries got slashed. He isn't on his own in Australia going...

Opinion Collingwood don't want Adam Treloar... recently signed him to a multi year big $$$ deal.

Disregarding what others are saying in this thread, are you happy with the way Collingwood appear to be handling Adam Treloar? If them wanting him gone is false, which it may be, surely the right approach would be to come out in the media and say that this is all untrue and Adam is a valued...

    Patrick Dangerfield or Dustin Martin

It's a fine theory, though in 2017 Dusty WAS the 2nd target when he went forward as we only had Jack. Dusty then kicked a career high 37 goals for the year.
  27. These 4 Walls

    Patrick Dangerfield or Dustin Martin

Strongly disagree on the former. I think for the first half he was the team player he seemed to change into for the last half of the year. It's lazy to think he hasn't grown, it didn't work out on Saturday but there was clearly a change in him this year compared to last. You can guarantee if...

    Motchin > Dangerwood

Whilst there is certainly some mayo in that statement, it isn't as outrageous as it may sound. Since 2017 he has received 59 Ayres votes from the coaches in 10 Finals at an average at 5.9 per match which is insane. Danger has got 26 votes in 9 finals at 2.9 per match over that period. I think...

    Recommitted Todd Goldstein

Not sure on other Richmond supporters thoughts though especially with Soldo out for a year I'd give up a first and a young fringe player (or even Nank) if North Covered some salary. Nank is a warrior but probably in the third tier of ruckman. If we could get a full 2021 out of him and maasage...

Michael Christian is having a shocking run, he and the AFL need to do better

Lots of people make ~100k a year and make plenty of decisions each day to avoid a $166 or lesser fine. There will be examples of those who don't but the majority do.
