Agree on Benjamin maybe switching with Goodes. Just going on seeing him play for the All-Stars on S'day night.
HaggardH, I do rate two players, Lovett-Murray (HBF) and Roe (BP), ahead of Tambling where I have those two positioned. There's now way Tambles would be suitable for those key...
With 82 Indigenous players in the AFL this season, there's easily room for two full-strength teams to line up. Here's what I came up with. Make your own.
Indigenous All-Stars
Indigenous Dreamtime Team
* All-Stars kicking up
Aaron Davey, Michael O'Loughlin, Mark Williams
Mathew Whelan...
From the AFL tonight:
2009 QANTAS AFL Indigenous All-Stars team named
IN: Atkinson, Tambling, Wonaeamirri. OUT: Wirrpanda, Lovett-Murray, Jurrah
THE 2009 Qantas Indigenous All-Stars team to play the Adelaide Crows on Saturday, February 7, at TIO Stadium in Darwin has been named...
If the option was there to name my team the Indigenous All-Stars, I would. It's the point of the thread.
Not a bad team, but where's the accountability in the middle? Which was why I had Walker ahead of Wells, even if you've conveniently placed him as an emergency, which I hadn't originally...
This is the second pot-shot you've taken, yet you still hide behind whatever it is that prevents you from naming a team yourself. Offended that your fave North player was omitted?
So name your team and let's see what you've got. It's simple, really.
Alright, let's let the All-Stars v Crows thread alone to discuss that game, and discuss your best 22 in the AFL in 2009 here.
I've named my team last night, so here it is again, despite my ownage by others of my selections (it's Ok, I'm a big boy! :) ):
Backs
Roger Hayden, Antoni Grover...
TS, I'm thinking leg-speed for the wing, hence Jetta, but I see your point on Burgoyne. But for Walker, he's more hard-at-it and can play a run-with role from the middle, so I picked him over Wells.
BrownDog, Johnno's the coach, Goodes and O'Loughlin are his assistants.
Fair enough call, but in regards to the wing, Jetta would be more suited there than Matt and Lindsay, IMO.
budge11, I don't think you understand why I picked Lovett-Murray ahead of Matt Campbell: to fill in as a KPP. To not understand otherwise is mystifying. And Alwyn Davey, Jetta and Betts...
morgs1, this would be my best 22 (from the backline):
Roger Hayden -- Antoni Grover -- Graham Johncock
Chance Bateman -- Patrick Ryder -- Matthew Whelan
Leroy Jetta -- Andrew McLeod -- Cyril Rioli jnr
Aaron Davey -- Adam Goodes -- Alwyn Davey
Eddie Betts -- Lance Franklin -- Mark Williams...
Not so sure if the ABC's off the hook. I'd be seeking clarification, just going by what they have on their Feb. 7 online national guides.

No sign of the match...
Yes, the Hawks did, but he didn't play a senior game which is/was the criteria.
Actually, do any Hawks fans have info on a MICK EDWARDS at all? When/If he was a Hawk, and how many/if any game he played?
Update
The number of players listed at clubs who hadn't played a senior game are numbered...
Asty, I've just been in contact from a WA author on football, and Craig's not Indigenous.
The updated tallies of Indigenous players per club from 1897:
Essendon 22, Fremantle 20, North Melbourne 19, Melbourne 18, West Coast 18, St Kilda 17, Brisbane Bears/Lions 16, Sydney 15, Port Adelaide...
re All-Stars squad:
Just got a message from the AFL: The All-Stars squad should be named within a week.
That's a topic for another thread: Indigenous players for each SANFL team. Right now, we don't have much info on that. Off the top off my head, I could probably name only 30 players, but...
The issue you have not seeing stuff is definitely your version of IE. If you update it to a newer version, problem solved. I use Safari and Firefox, then after I'd add a story, I'd get to work, have a quick squiz (using early version IE), but nothing! So I upgraded my work computer's IE version...
Hey, thanks for that info on Bolton AND Francis. That was quite a saga with Francis, wasn't it? Freo get him over to Souths anyway, with the thought of drafting him a year later, then he does his knee!
Will add Mourish to that list (have yet to add in 2008's players...)
Here's what I have, from 1986...
All the players, all the selections...
Indigenous AFL draftees from the first draft (1986) to the last (2008) *
1986
National draft
No. 42 Anthony LOVELL (Glenorchy, North Tasmanian Football League) to Melbourne
1987
National draft
No. 36 Tony...
REH, I'm the fella behind that site, http://www.aboriginalfootball.com.au/, and the current version is way better and much easier to navigate than the original, clunky version, and much, much easier to add new stories with its CMS system. Where previously it took a good 30-40 minutes to add a...
After Michael O'Loughlin was a little off-target in the 2005 GF, in a post-match interview he was quite relieved. Next day's headline read:
"O Mickey not a pity, you've just won a flag"
People who knew the 1980s would know the 'reference'.
Augie March: Watch Me Disappear
Pretty good disc altho' the title track could have been better arranged.
Michael Franti & Spearhead: All Rebel Rockers
Birds Of Tokyo: Universes
Kings Of Leon: Only By The Night
Much of the credit for getting the State of Origin concept off the ground has to go to then Subiaco Football Club Marketing Manager Leon Larkin, who undertook two years of intensive negotiation with the powers-that-were at the VFL in order to obtain agreement for the inaugural match, which took...
