I don't think its a ridiculous statement at all. Some of the recruits this year were exceptional. Players like Jimmy Miller, Tom Highmore, Billy Gowers, Dan McKenzie, are some of the best plyers in the competition - then their were several other very solid recruits for this season who weren't as...
Not potentially - both sides will be winless. We will put up a fight this weekend but go down by 5 goals and Preston by a similar margin. We will get our first win vs Preston. Don't question me, Marty Mcfly has given me the Almanac.
Bugger, always like to see a stand alone win (perhaps not so much for Williamstown).
The photo you posted looks like their we're not many people there, how are you guys going crowd wise ? Would have thought after the grand final you would have had substantial increases in crowds.
If it was abc doing the coverage ild say good chance (especially as Phil Cleary was involved with the coverage) being channel 7 their game selection favours the AFL clubs more so than than old vfa clubs so who knows?
I agree that the main reason to the low crowds is team performance, post covid it has been tough and at times frustrating being a Port Melbourne supporter. I feel that the lack of numbers to functions is due to cost - tough economic times has led to people avoiding $90 pre match functions...
We are a little different to Frankston in our supporter base, although we have more members than Frankston we no longer draw a huge amount of local members. The membership base is far and wide and many found it a inconvenience to get to Port Melbourne to catch the bus added to that theirs...
You do expect one of the smallest crowds you've seen, we surely are not expected to get Frankston like crowds at Frankston, we struggle to get comparable crowds at home.
OI OI OI none of that, Port Melbourne didn't finish last, they finished 2nd last !!!
That Port Melbourne side in 2021 had to get rid of several players to make way for inexperience when the 6 players under 22 years of age per match rule came into play. Even Williamstown who was the most...
Club knows fans are not impressed by Ports start hence the video last week trying to calm the waters. What do you predict would happen if Port drops another?
I watched online and am surprised by the overwhelming negative assessment of Frankston. I feel that for the most part they will be competitive this season and I wouldn't be overly surprised if they win next week (Port I feel will still be favourites but I don't think it will be a one sided game).
If it's St Kilda that chose it then it's fair to say the Saints have no regard whatsoever to the Sandringham members and the Sandringham club?
If what you say is correct (and I have no reason to doubt you) and the Saints don't care about their aligned partner then perhaps they should go...
How do they come up with these odds ? Werribee at $5 and Port Melbourne coming in at 15th position when the club expects a top 4 finish (according to posts in this thread).
Good question Nick, yould think the vfl listed players at afl clubs will have to take the 3 weeks off otherwise if you make them exempt then that would create a precedent that stand alone clubs could argue in reducing their time as well.
Thankfully it doesn't happen too often.
They will definitely give it a shake- their heads that is, in disbelief when Port Melbourne finishes higher than them on the ladder !
Thell do ok but just like Port Melbourne fans they are getting carried away - had a Williamstown client of mine call it already, he's that confident they are...
Give it time Nick, theirs been some personnel changes, new operations manager comes well appointed with a great resume therefore things are expected to turn.
On field without jumping the gun Ports recruited well and should be more competitive than last season.
As for attendances, some...
It's due to getting rid of the former admin. Guy was a absolute gun with excellence in all areas including match day organisation, social media, driving memberships, mc and all things club related. Was let go during the Ayres departure time and was a loss to the club of huge proportions. Just...
Still not a excuse, looks like a clip from my first Nokia over 15 years ago. The perception it gives is that a semi professional club is unprofessional, not a good look. If it was up to me ild take that clip down and re do it, unless we are happy with below mediocrity!
If you don't regard the mentioned players as losses then you have set the bar extremely high not that having high standards is a bad thing, it's almost a prerequisite at (once????) mighty Port Melbourne.
