Tigers are starting to look more vulnerable - ignoring the GC result, their last three finishes at the MCG are 3, 8, and 3 point wins against Geelong, Essendon, and the Bulldogs respectively. Three decent but not world beating sides. Not saying we're that far above them, but the better teams can...
Also the poll result isn't that bad - finishing positions after finals are more important, but also if we'd won even one of the 5 games we lost by under 11 points (three against top 8 sides and one against Port when they were still top 4) we'd have finished third and Hawthorn would have finished...
No one is picking up JKH in a trade. Delisted free agent, maybe. And I wouldn't be trading Bugg, we won't get value and he's about as good of a depth player as you can get
McDonald in, Hogan out is a net win for us. Even if Hogan is the better player (which would be a highly contentious debate on our board) McDonald is far better for our forward structure. Also Lever was garbage for the first 4.5 games, and easily his worst performance was his game against...
That was a long time ago now, and important to remember that we blitzed you in the first quarter before Clarko worked out what to do. I think Goody has improved a lot as a coach since then, but will be curious to validate that theory if we meet you in week 2.
Moving him back after his experience forward makes him an added asset for us - as seen when he kicked that goal against Adelaide, he's dangerous when he does push back into forward 50 because he knows where the goals are. Woe is any side that lets him creep unmarked up from defence.
Trac had the equal second most sprint efforts on ground on the weekend. Effort isn't the issue anymore, just overall fitness and instinct, which will come. Unsurprising that he's improved as the season's gone on, after missing a week and probably struggling to readapt after the finger incident...
Also Salem's success is independent of the success of the trade. If we'd drafted Cripps, Merrett, or even Sicily with pick 9 no one would think twice about Kelly. Can't really judge whether the trade was the right decision or not based on what the recruiters ended up doing.
Yeah I don't think he's actually improved that much. It's just that now he's an average to solid player in a good side, rather than in a bad one, and he's not getting dragged over the coals as much because he's fitting into a stronger system. Happy for him to get the accolades which our average...
Nah I reckon we'd have beaten Port at Adelaide Oval if West Coast hadn't beaten Adelaide and we'd finished 8th. Would have been hammered by Sydney though.
No problems with Weideman's goalkicking really - he's a very good set shot, but rushed some of his field shots v WCE, which I didn't really mind because it showed he's ready to play on impulse.
