Can't drop either of them on form.
If Green is to be included it will require a reshuffle of the batting order to accommodate him. The difficult decision will come when Warner is fit to return to the team.
His bowling is perfectly suited to this pitch.
If he and Maxwell can split 10 overs at at a reasonable economy rate then they've done their job. Henriques picking up a wicket is a bonus
It's unbelievable. It's almost as if they assessed the wicket and determined that someone who can bowl cutters in the 120's might be useful before picking Henriques
I'm hoping Green or Henriques replace Stoinis. Even though he had a good start to the shield season, I think the batting looks a bit thin if Abbott comes in.
They don't have the same air of invincibility as the Geelong of 07 had but have definitely stamped themselves as one of the teams to beat thus far.
As others have mentioned it will be interesting to see how their youngsters are travelling towards the back end of the season, it's only early days.
I thought Carlton were better for the majority of the game and we were lucky to escape with the 4 points. As Carlton's players mature they'll get better at closing games out and winning key moments, I certainly wouldn't be disheartened at all if I were a blues fan.
The role the coaches want him to fulfil is all that matters. If he wasn't meeting their expectations he wouldn't be in the team. People need to get off his back.
So BBL form is irrelevant but Sheffield Shield form is relevant? To white ball cricket? Your argument is flimsier that Finch's front foot defence.
Why on earth would you wait until AFTER the 50 over formats premier event to drop an out of form batsman and try to get a lineup together that will...
Finch didn't manage to smack those "pie throwers" too well when he kitted up for the Renegades this season.
You dismissing BBL form because it doesn't suit your argument doesn't make it any less relevant. Where else were they meant to score runs over summer? Would club cricket have impressed...
Khawaja, S.Marsh, Stoinis, Short are all better alternatives to partner Warner at the top of the order based on current form. Finch is absoutely nowhere near it presently and his issues will only be magnified in English conditions
It was an interesting situation when he was appointed (pre ASADA shitstorm). My assumption was that he was a puppet with an experienced Mark Thompson pulling the strings.
Looking back this was probably a silly view, you can't be that good on the field as a player and not have a good amount of...
Putting all the ASADA stuff to one side, was he even that good of a coach?
I'm not against him getting a second chance as a senior coach but I can't see him leap frogging other better credentialled candidates should any vacancies arise.
The commentators of Victoria's current Shield game wre hypothesising on the idea of Finch in the middle order. It raises the question of who bats at the top if this were to happen. Team could look something like this:
Renshaw
Burns/Harris (not a fan of picking off one innings but some seem to...
