Here is the point. You and the Academy see the Swans as the only port of call, so decisions made have been detrimental to the player's opportunities at 17 other clubs. As pointed out before, the Swans academy should at least be on par with the draft numbers produced by GCS and Lions academies...

Word is, all of them were gone if not drafted. Academy prospects going into this year know that 2 draftees are already in the Swan's books, and the 30 people that turn up to NEAFL games have no scouts watching. Whereas, with 2000 people watching the SANFL each week will hold spaces for scouts...

I wonder if the chosen NDS boys will see opportunities elsewhere? If they leave the NDS after the draft because they see the academy as a hindrance rather than a help, this years "most successful" group could send a message that could make some people very uncomfortable.

If they listen to the 'wind blown up their arses' there were 9 draftable prospects with the Swans. Took zero.. the pathway can get blocked by stupidity.

Someone please explain how the current 17s or NDS guys don't see the bleeding obvious? Next year is done for them already, they are the supporting cast, no draft there either.

Grassy is a ruck. And a developing one at that. His size made him a force in the SANFL, but his skill lacks. SANFL is still way ahead of NEAFL though. Crowds average over 2000 per game plus a 35000 plus GF crowd. Pretty sure that the recruiters would be more active at that level too.

Several Swans Academy kids had sub 8sec agility, sub 3 sec 20m and 20.3 plus yoyo.. all seen as elite. Yep, and how many NDS players get picked up? They are used as a free hit. Often played out of position and overlooked by most of the senior players who are playing for their livelihoods.
