I’m just trying to understand your initial point that those in Australia with overseas backgrounds support external countries because of our ‘lack of culture’. Can I ask what your background is?
Yep. Spot on. I’d say romanticising. They have little idea.
Anyway, the future is what it’s all about. The past is the past and doesn’t govern where a country and its people are heading.
The fact is Australia is a country going places with so much to be proud of.
Go and ask the youth of Italy...
Italy was ‘made’ in 1871.
I’m second generation (folks born in Italy), and the whole argument that you are bereft if culture based upon how long ago white men settled on land is ridiculous.
Langdon has missed pretty much a season and come back playing his best footy. Nothing to suggest he can’t do it again.
In terms of Broomhead I totally agree. Still can’t believe we signed him for another year and just wasted a spot.
I think also that there just haven’t been many gun ruckman in the league over the years. So are so rare that clubs just give up and focus on players in other areas which are easier to find. Much easier to find a gun midfielder when there are so many that play that position. Why else did we get...
It would be interesting how players see themselves. That is do they measure themselves against others in the team or just look for the most $$ they can get regardless? If Grundy is taking say $900k pa, do JDG and Moore believe they are better players or have performed better than Grundy? If not...
Yeah I was thinking around $500k-$550k pa. I actually think it may come down to Pendles as to how likely we are to hang on to JDG and Moore.
Of the 2, I have greater confidence in retaining Moore. Given North already offered JDG $1m pa before he really ‘broke out’, they may come back at $1.4m...
Also you can add that Grundy is so influential that not only was he instrumental in getting us to the 2018 GF, but if he played like he did all season there is no doubt we would have been premiers. And you think ruckman like this guy don’t win you premierships??!!!
I don’t think 3 big forwards is where we want to head given how dangerous our forward line looks with our smaller, dynamic forwards.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we are developing key forwards expecting to replace Cox in the near future given his large contract and our cap.
Yes so it makes no sense arguing how important it is to have your best player in a particular position on the ground.
Of Grundy, JDG and Moore, there is nothing to suggest today that Grundy shouldn’t be on the largest contract.
Right now we know the length of the contract but we don’t know the...
Yes it’s a weak argument. Only 1 player can ruck. Plenty of midfielders, defenders and forwards in a team. Winning a premiership is not 1 player, whether it be 1 midfielder, 1 defender, 1 forward or the team’s ruckman. But having a great ruckman (who incidentally also plays like another...
He is our best player.
He is our most durable player.
He is one of our most professional players.
He is a great ‘face’ of the club.
He is intelligent and marketable.
My kids wear his image on their socks.
After signing he said all the right things. He loves the club, Bucks and direction the...
Sorry but I’m getting a little confused here.
Are we talking sheep or sheeples? IMO sheeples have an unfair advantage over sheep with hands and legs.
But then again what would I know? I’m that other breed labelled Sheep-Troll.
Yeah I understand but I didn’t mean round 1. My view was about seeing whether they can give him some game time in the VFL to learn that position. It will be his 3rd year actually playing AFL football so who knows he may have some upside in a position other then FB which I agree he was very...
Fair enough. I just worry that Shaz doesn’t seem to have the penetration in his kicking and our forward line looks so much better when we get the ball in quickly.
I agree we need to keep Maynard in defense where he is playing great footy. Also Crisp off half back is important in running the ball...
I think you are being a little harsh. He has been in the system for 2 years and has played basically at full back. He definitely isn’t a full back.
He has a leap, size and strength. I don’t think he is slow. I think he doesn’t watch his man at full back and so is often caught flat footed...
I’d like to see us try Madgen on a wing. The guy is strong and can take a grab. His pace isn’t too bad and he could be a difficult player to match up. He can’t play defense. Keeps getting caught off guard by the forwards. But I think he has the attributes be a weapon.
He isn’t a $1m pa player anymore. A great player and still valuable, however, every year on from here only gets more difficult. He scraped into AA. Does that mean every other player in that AA team is on $1m pa?
I think a club can only afford a very select few on $1m pa. Over the next 3-5 yrs...
Whatever the shortfall is, you’d think Pendles’ new contract will be much less than his current. Could save $300k-$500kpa right there. Pendles would have been on $1m-$1.2m I would think. one thing we do need and that is for the kids brought in over the past 3 years to have a great year playing...
