Felt like a game with two tales. Glimpses of slick aggressive movement but overpowered and poor goater.
I thought it was interesting that we seemed interested in attempting to take territory from stoppages more than what we saw in preseason (I think?). Felt like less forward handballing it...
We knew it was going this way, I think it could have been worse so this is ok.
Media were jostling for a hanging. It’s some spare change for Clarko and he’ll do the course, probably love it, and we’ll be the gay capital of the AFL.
Edit: Mardi Gras 2025 permanently relocated to Hardon St 3051.
I care less about the navy and more about the sponsors logos distracting from everything.
Australian open tennis had sponsor logos around the court and they were all white only, basically monograms. We should do something similar, it’s much neater. Current setup looks like walking F1 livery.
I quite like sheezel being voted in. I imagine that becomes infectious to the really new guys that limited games experience doesn't stop you from expressing leadership and really trying to drive the team outcomes.
I noticed the Duursma boys at the game today. Xavier getting chased by maybe a 7yo wanting a photo and I presume Willem chuckling. Big game Zane played it cool and kept walking- keeping a low profile. Looks like he’d fit in at the Chaddy food court.
What year did Libba sort of implode? Managed to turn it around and play some good footy.
Anyway the very cynical part of me thinks this is just all clickbait dreamt up by jabba and clarry is happy to go dark for a few days to give it fuel.
I wonder how they’d dertermine a smother if the kicker’s boot landed square in the opponent who is attempting to smother’s face and concussed them. Unrelated of course, but I’m curious.
One thing I noticed in the commentary- underwoods referred to Vescio as ‘she’ which sort of stood out. To my pleasant surprise was Krakouer using they/them, good comments on how plays were setup/unfolding, and at one point he corrected himself when he said ‘big ladies…sorry, tall ladies up...
I’ve been thinking about that a bit lately. Imo the afl should draft a new strategy on growing memberships where it focuses on getting the smaller third of clubs to whatever the top third have in members. Starting with media stories so that people new to the game can find connections. And not...
Two positive observations from my seats:
1. We seem to be more confident to take on a tackler or stand up and take contact
2. We seem more composed to find an outlet when that happens.
I don’t remember us doing this in recent years. Even Bailey took contact at least on one occasion and...
Thought he had an almost game. A few times chasing the loose ball and it just never bobbed up for him which undid his chance to do some damage. Anyway, I think if the team believes then he is closer to believing in himself. When that happens, we’ll see his best.
