Better to post nothing than the rubbish St Johns have served up in this forum and on their social media. At least they have now pulled down the Facebook post and nuffy comments.
Hopefully the new board can sort out this mess in the Divisions and structuring for next season. Divisional clubs, largely non-alumni, are desperate for support and fed up with silly fines from HQ and 'please explain' letters every Monday.
Doesn't matter how it's come to light. VAFA, North Brunswick, Box Hill North or someone else. Fact is you were found out for playing ineligible player. Also irrelevant is whether the player had 1 kick or 20.
Tough lesson but only one club responsible. Let's hope VAFA put in place some...
Wouldn't be difficult to generate a list of players eligible and circulate this to clubs.
Last year it took a player points breach by a Premier side to change things so clubs needed to apply for player points. Wonder if HQ will adjust the system in future so clubs have the list of players to...
Refusing a transfer would be a waste of time. Blocking a club moving from an amateur competion to a paid, local competition won't get far and it wouldnt be good for anyone to hold Old Parade in a competition when they want out.
Bit of work ahead for VAFA and the AGM will be interesting once again.
Parkside will go in favourites with the wins during home and away season. Great effort for them to be promoted and make grand final this year. Looks to be a well run club.
Hopefully we find out the structure for Divisions soon but alot will depend on who is leaving. If they start making a...
Yes definitely a retro charm to the changerooms. What's the schools position on a potential move to NFNL? Are they concerned about drinking on school grounds?
Garvey is an excellent ground, plenty of warm up area outside although change rooms are small. Social rooms very good. School is fenced but ground is not fully fenced though so VAFA employ security as well to ensure people visiting school don't accidentally wander across to the footy.
No, it's got worse because of lack planning.
Plenty of grounds available. Some VAFA clubs who finished in lower half of ladder would be happy to host finals and collect the canteen profit.
I don't hate the Hoers. Probably a close finals series in D2 this year although Parkside slightly with their nose in front. If they do get promoted then they should aquit themselves well in D1 given strength of overall club. South Melbourne also have depth but if Yarra were to get promoted...
Sorry, the fine was actually for Old Ivanhoe. Wrong club so play on! It was a big fine so curious to know whatever happened. Something to do with a function.
For the best part of two years we have read about Ivanhoe and will they-wont they leave VAFA. At least Old Parade are doing their homework respectfully and not all over bigfooty. I cant wait to hear about the 'successful' move when Ivanhoe are smashing the strugglers in Lalor and Reservoir.
You keep mentioning Thomastown but they've been gone since 2000.
In last 5 years, it's been departures for Banyule, Eltham Collegians, Westbourne, Mt Lilydale South Mornington, the merger to form Old Yarra Cobras and now Ivanhoe.
Large divisions would destroy the lower teams. Really hope they go smaller divisions of 8 so theoretically less gap between top and bottom. If there is 12 in Div 1, 2 or 3 I guarantee more teams leaving VAFA
The VAFA is going to have to do something around the Divisions next year or risk losing further Clubs.
I think it would be timely to also review some other rules such as alcohol and player transfers.
Being allowed to serve alcohol through games without the requirement for sit down meals...
