Player Watch Brayden Sier (Delisted 2021)

Whilst both Wills and Sier are excellent at making tackles, standing in tackles to deliver by hand and throwing their weight around at stoppages, the opposition will just sit on the receivers to nullify this. I’d love both of them to start really breaking tackles then delivering by hand and foot...

Oppo Camp Brodie Grundy (Traded to Melbourne 2022)

I think Grundy is unique in that he could genuinely be classified as a ruck/midfielder. His tap work has improved greatly in his time with us and I think the challenge for Brodie and the team now is how do we best balance this with his clearance work. Add to this the likely development of some...

Training The Thread Formerly Known As The Training Thread

Many thanks to our training reporters, your work is greatly appreciated. Highlights from the reports for me: Crisp playing up the field and in the middle. Hope we see this once the season commences. Elliott getting some centre bounce work. Could be brilliant for us in there I think. Coxy...

    Wayne Richardson

Like to thank the OP for the reminder re Wayne. Loved him as captain of our team. Strangely my memories are of listening to radio commentary and hearing his name keep bobbing up for us. He was a great role model for selfless leadership and definitely a legend.

Player Watch Dayne Beams (Retired 2020)

Interested to know whether a player in Dayne’s situation could be placed on the long term injury list allowing a rookie to move n to the senior list. I assume the answer is no. Perhaps it is something the AFL could consider.

Player Watch Trent Bianco (Delisted 2023)

The current premiers have approximately 1/3rd of their best 22 between 177-185cm. We have about the same . So height not really an issue.

Player Watch Trey Ruscoe (Delisted 2023)

Fair points loki04. Typically in our game you’re earmarked for KPP once you hit those heights and not many mids around 195-198. I was thinking in terms of the Crisp type role and mid time where I’d be fine if he didn’t grow much taller. Oh, and I’m height deprived myself😊 Nature will take its...

Player Watch Trey Ruscoe (Delisted 2023)

I’m actually hoping he doesn’t get too much taller and maintains his pace. Might be someone who could allow Crisp to push into the mids or run through there himself and give us even more flexibility.

    Game Day 2019 AFL Draft

Like these picks. Glad we didn't go a mediocre tall and limited big bodied mids. Think we chose wisely. Here's hoping.

    Delisted Free-Agents Target List

Thanks Quicky. Happy to pass if he’s one paced and not damaging by foot as you describe.

    Delisted Free-Agents Target List

I like the sound of Keays. Supposedly skilled by foot which means there’s definitely a spot in the midfield for him if we’re game. Type of player I’d prefer over Wills when we have Sier already as depth.

Yes it’s intriguing because I can hear myself saying on occasion that I’d like to see a more aggressive game plan for instance.

Interesting discussion re aggression. For mine aggression is more a personality trait rather than anything else. Commitment, attack, fearlessness, courage are words that could be used in a similar context. I wouldn't describe Scharenberg as aggressive but he has the other qualities in spades...

    List Mgmt. Trade & F/A - 2020

I think Thomas played a bit higher up the field this year SR and I never really got a handle on what Brown’s role was to be honest. Stevo out, Elliott coming back, Cox and De Goey out late and WHE unable to take a mark inside 50 hurt us and affected Thomas’ input as well. As you’ve mentioned...

    List Mgmt. Trade & F/A - 2020

Keays sounds like just the type we need IMO, especially if he can play significant midfield time Knightmare. I’m currently wanting Crisp to move into our midfield and was hoping we’d let Wills go to get someone wth speed, skill and great foot skills to replace him to be honest. I feel Sier is...

    Strategy Best 22 2020

My preferred mid combos would be: Senior: Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom Next Gen: De Goey, Crisp, Adams Chop Outs: Treloar, Elliott, Thomas One senior + 2 next gen at most centre bounces with the occasional chop out. Adams I’d rather see forward than back rotating with Elliott or Thomas briefly.

    Strategy Best 22 2020

Nice team. I think ideally I’d still have Cox there as he would make Moore even more dangerous and do some ruck time. If Beams is up and running I’d have Sier as depth.

List Mgmt. Affirmative action approach required with our recruitment?

Joely06 posted that wells had been appointed to a list management role in the Wells thread though I don’t think there’s been a formal announcement by the club. Hope it’s true and hope Varcs has an opportunity to continue with us in a similar role. I think the club under Bucks and Eddie would be...

    List Mgmt. Trade & F/A - 2020

By my count on the list management thread we have 21 players coming off contract in 2020. Probably only 10 of those could be considered certain starters in our best 22. So I don’t see why we need to panic dump this year. Allowing 12 more months to plan how we manage things seems to be a...

Hope for the best for Aish whatever happens. The fact that his manager, Pies and Freo are all supporting him to make his own decision demonstrates he’s a respected individual. He certainly has my respect. Never taken a backward step when in the black and white.

For the experts. Could we possibly be trying to gazump St Kilda for Hill or is it a done deal? Freo apparently want 2 first rounders. Could we make it happen with a future 1st and get ourselves another one somehow? Hope we are getting in the ear of his management. If we could make this...
