We were never going to improve once they kept McDonald & Simpkin as co captains.
I was surprised & worried at the time they announced it & those feelings have been confirmed.
One is apparently a top bloke & the other is a hard trainer. Apart from that, they offer nothing.
In the last 2 years...
If we did a poll tonight of North BF posters regarding the 2x 2024 priority picks being traded for Fisher & Stephens for fear we might lose them because we'd perform too well I'd be surprised if it was anything below 98% voting that we screwed up.
I reckon we are minimum 2 years away from being at least competitive.
I made a point of sitting a few rows back from the fence to get a different perspective & wow it looked even worse from there than from L3 or on TV.
So many players have 1 effort in them & then give up.
There is zero fwd 50...
My Richmond supporting mates warned me about this bloke when we signed him.....now my phone is blowing up with messages saying told ya.
Most positive thing about him is that we only signed him for 1 year
If we got pick 1, off the top of my head, these are the current players I'd consider trading it for (based on age & our needs)
JUH
Sam Taylor
Charle Curnow
Shai Bolton
Harley Reid
I'd also consider Tom Green, Nick Daicos & Zac Butters.
Kingy showed vision of Fisher & Stephens which was pretty embarrassing for them. Also said Corr needs to show more leadership. Was also mentioned that we are being let down by our senior leaders. Well derrrr
Every single centre square ball up we can't get near the ball. It's like our players are wearing concrete boots. Zero movement, zero momentum. They're either flat footed, in the wrong position or way too far behind their opponent
Has Simpkin or Scott hit a target by foot today?
LDU missed a target inside 50 who was 12 metres away. McDonald literally a less than a 50% chance of hitting a target also
Let's be honest, there's blokes getting a game ATM purely based on their age. It's the real dilemma, we need to "protect" the young players with having some of these older bodies around them but the problem is our older players just aren't up to it.
My concern is the example these older...
Captain slow:
Slow moving
Slow hands
Slow thinking
Slow to get boot to ball
More of the same.... get ball, hold on to the ball & brace for tackle.
No positive ball movement at all. There was one moment in the last qtr he had the ball on the hbf & kicked it 30m backwards to a player in the...
There was one effort in the last qtr in their goalsquare when he had the chance to bodyline the ball but threw a lazy hand in & almost looked like he tried to do a basketball dribble. Of course their player showed more effort for the ball & resulted in an easy goal. Embarrassing effort.
Says just as much about the selectors as it does about him as a footballer. He was actually a better player when he was out on the town mucking up than now he has settled down.
Do people really think that all of a sudden he's gonna become a clean living, respectful & responsible person just because we sacked him? A leopard never changes its spots.
