RTD says the decision to partner with Disney will enable the show to continue when the BBC is shut down. Sad to think the BBC (and 'our ABC') could be shut down by (mainly) right-wing types wanting the likes of Foxtel or Sky to rule the airwaves in the near future.
It's always hard to bet against those front-markers who, almost always, only compete in pro events so their true form is hard to judge.
I will probably be cheering for the SA 20yo Olivia Hastings who made the final last year. But her recent (massive) improvements in 'amateur' races means she...
Only remember it as Ray's. In MY day we had to go to Melbourne to shop at Central Station Records lol
Oh - actually I think one opened later in Adelaide Arcade.
Plenty of athletics events on over the next few days.
- ALBIE THOMAS meet in Sydney (Thurs 7.30pm) features Australian Mile Championships and a few other events and will be streamed on the Athletics NSW Facebook & YT pages. Sadly no entry lists out yet.
- WORLD CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS in...
Me too - but I did some googling and it wasn't really a thing in the 90s series or the comic books from any era. Kind of good that we have classic storylines to look forward to. AND some new stuff.
Athletics Australia have done a good job with relays this year with camps and coaches. Importantly they have also arranged for overseas teams in almost all races. Times clocked by relay teams only count for world rankings if there is an international competitor in the race. It doesn't matter...
There needs to be a thread about this show.
Many of us probably grew up watching the original X-Men cartoon during Cheez-TV in the 90s.
And now X-Men 97 is here and the 90s feels just like yesterday.
Those opening titles, that iconic theme tune.
And many of the same voice actors are...
PS - Thank you Dogs for reminding me of Julia Davis.
As well as re-watching 'Nighty Night' I found some of the other comedies she has written/starred in and watched those for the first time:
Hunderby
Camping
Sally4eva
And after enjoying the performance of Vicki Pepperdine in Camping I...
I was disturbed in the early 90s (still in my 20s) when a woman at work who must have been 10, 15 years older than me said she and her friends used to party until all hours at Regine's when they were younger. The place didn't seem quite so cool to me after that lol.
That is one of the problems trying to remember places from back then. They often closed down, had a bit of refurbishment and opened again with a new name.
A classic dark comedy.
Julia's character was such a twisted horrible (but hilarious) lady. I would often think she couldn't possibly get any more horrible and then the next episode would air lol.
Depends whether you were into bands or bopping I guess.
Can remember seeing INXS and Divinyls on one night at 'Pepper's Place' (The Bridgeway these days).
Also recall dancing with Jason Donovan (Groove is in the Heart might have been the song) at some place when he was filming something in SA...
As a kid I used to laugh at the Two Ronnies but don't find it as funny these days. My Dad was a big fan of Ronnie Barker but I never used to like 'Open All Hours' or 'Porridge'.
Now I find them both hilarious. They don't make em like Barker any more.
These days I tend to like 'dramedies'...
