All Carlton has top do is play finals and you'll see how big they really are. 90,000 members without playing finals on 15 years must give some insight.

You can look at it anyway you want.
However here are some facts that you should probably know about why this is such a big thing now.
Take it from someone who's worked in the sports marketing industry for 10 years
Clubs use these numbers as a marketing tool to promote their brand.

2018 AFL Crowds and Match Attendances
Check this link and look at the Bulldogs premiership year of 2016 mate. Tell me there's a big difference between this year and that year. Proper context. I agree Melbourne are pulling in poor crowds for a reigning premier but lets be honest, they have the...
They've been the same.
go to this link... select the years pre covid 2019,2018 etc and select home games. you'll see what I mean. Keep in mind teams performances in that year.
2018 AFL Crowds and Match Attendances
you'll see even in bulldogs premiership year, their home attendances were poor
Bulldogs and North will always be bottom no matter what. Gold Coast and GWS will be for at least the next 10-15 years, while Brisbane's Home ground holds 30k so that average will probably end up between 25-30k by end of year.
Carlton have been dormant for years, for them to have consistently increasing their numbers without being successful or playing finals is amazing work. If the Blues play finals this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they hit 100,000 members in 2023. This years' target of 85,000, should be reached...
Funny, are you saying that Hawthorn never inflated their numbers?
I know for a fact that there have been as many as 11,000 Tasmanian members on 3 game memberships. Not to mention, they were the first club to introduce pet memberships back in 2005 in their figures. I’d argue, the order you see...
This comment I can agree with, although I was making the point that if they’re all fit and firing, the “4” would stand out. Example, the off field success of Richmond winning the flag in 2017 compared to Hawthorn 2 years earlier.
Reason Hawthorn was up for so long was all their success, including 3 flags in a row, they still could only muster 80,000 members. and 12,000 of those are Tasmanian. As you can see Collingwood Carlton Essendon, have been in the doldrums in that same period and yet here we are, like Richmond, all...
I have to say, Im pretty disappointed in Melbournes turnouts this year. Reigning premiers, undefeated, multiple home games at the G, yet they're struggling for attendances unless they're playing Richmond as the away team. Whats going on there?
Home rd 1 GF replay - 56,000
Home rd 3 v Essendon...
I think you've completely missed my point. It actually is 5-10,000 military and veterans depending on the day, from the parade 2 hours earlier. It's a fact. Another fact is every other game you've listed are not events nor are they public holidays where everything closes. Another fact, that game...
One thing that most people forget, Anzac Days match usually has between 5-10,000 military and veterans from the parade in attendance. Not to mention all the gurneys of other clubs in the crowd there for the spectacle. It shouldn’t be classified or compared to a regular home and way game. I can...
