Hi all, just thought I'd note here for your reference that I've noticed Stadiums Queensland are running a tenders process to rename the Gabba, so youll probably be getting a silly name coming soon.
This is an open market tender, which means that it could be any organisation naming your ground...
Some good news (hopefully something that receives bipartisan support and not pending the state election). Whitten Oval, Eureka Stadium and Etihad stadium are the recipients of State Government funding for development - I imagine this will make us better equipped to host AFLW matches.
It isnt...
Trengove, Collins, Roberts, Cordy, Adams, Naughton, Lewis Young... even Morris (if he can rightly be put in this category, he's certainly played it for a lot of his career).
We have so many tall defenders. Some have to go forward. Some have to be cooked. Some will excel where they should be...
Do yourselves a favour and watch this short film.
A wonderful job and truly touching (I shed a tear or two).

Having watched all the finals an emabarrasing number of times I've noticed something about Easton Wood. His intensity in the huddle is like nothing I've ever seen. Frenetic. Crazy eyes. Left right and back again all in under a second. You would do whatever he says!
I know Bob will be captain...
I think the title speaks for itself and the reasons, in terms of publicity, are obvious.
The club should do this ASAP. I understand that Alan Johnstone has done a lot for the club, but that shouldn't be the main factor for a decision like that.
What are people's thoughts?
Title says it all.
Why do GWS get this when the dogs in 2015 were forced to play at the MCG rather than our home ground? Further to that, Geelong must play their prelim at the MCG, why do they get the disadvantage of that and not a final at Skilled when GWS get a home final?
If the issue were...
The ten metre protected zone rule isn't working.
I believe (anyone can correct me if wrong) that the rule to call 50 in these instances was brought in to prevent players from lurking around the back of contests and tackling the ball carrier when they played on. It has clearly stopped that from...
This is very worrying news.
Do we think we can win without Murph there for leadership? I hope that Boyd is made captain in his absence if it occurs, as he seems a better fit than Roughead even though he is VC.

Does anyone think that Chris Maple has played an important role in unifying the club over the pre season, selling the new coaching message to the players and is now involved a lot in game day decisions?
He was talking a hell of a lot next to Bev in the coaches box yesterday (that looked like...
The reason we've been playing so well, in my opinion, is at least in part due to the fact that we've been at Etihad for five of the past six weeks. Looking at the Brisbane game now, one can see what happens when we leave our comfort zone. The boys are going to make etihad a fortress in the years...
When I reflect on the kind of terminology that people use in Aussie rules circles, I notice what I perceive as a fair few platitudes (i.e. trite, meaningless, biased, or prosaic statements). These are things like 'bringing the game into disrepute', 'I love the way he goes about it', 'tough at...
After seeing Minson improve dramatically this year I feel that he has become a required player for us, moving forward. He has another 3-4 years of football in him at least, and will still be capable when our window reopens. I dont think that either Cordy or Roughead will develop into to a player...
When I saw the other thread titled 'climbers and sliders', I initially thought that it was about our own players. In other words, I thought the thread was about players who would improve, and those who would lose their mojo this year. When I opened it I realised that it wasn't. Nonetheless, I...
So, we've seen a lot of complaints about our lack of outside silk.
Looks like there is a decent way to rectify it. Who thinks we should pick up Lovett?
I'm not sure, truth be told. It is an interesting proposition though.
Hi guys,
I was doing a bit of reminiscing recently about the Western oval. I remember the last game there, hell I still have some of the grass from the oval in a jar from that day. :) It was a sad day, it really felt like the end of an era.
My most salient memory of the oval, is being about...
After the debacle with Lake, I hope McCartney gets rid of him. What does everyone else think?
We need coaches who are savvy to the needs of our players, and Monty clearly isn't. As far as I know, he doesn't have any special qualities as a coach either (given my ignorance, if someone could...
I think that Panos should be promoted, and given a chance to be our FF next year. What does everyone think?
He is a good kick, and a good mark. Obviously, his agility is the big question mark, but if he gets good delivery that wont be too much of a problem.
By all reports, you guys will be trading for Sam.
He had a ripper in the VFL prelim final yesterday. Kicked five, and did a lot of hard work in the forward line. Showed that he can kick the ball 70m, and with some accuracy. Some dogs fans are upset that he is leaving now!
I think you guys...
Having grown up in the western suburbs, I have to say, that was close to the most intense rain I've experienced in 24 years(though not nearly the longest)...
Water got into the kitchen, leaks throughout the house. Looks like another massive prick is coming... Hope you are all safe...
Majak Daw.
The amount of supporters this young bloke can bring to the club is phenomenal. There is already a large African community in Footscray(although it is largely Ethiopian, and not Sudanese, which might detract a little bit) and I think that a player like this young man can spark...
I havent cried for years.
Until now. Make my dream come true. I have never wanted anything so much in my life. **** the pundits. Do it for us. We have loved you all through everything. For us. Please.
The National Draft should be simple, to stop teams from tanking.
Last team gets 1st pick
First gets pick 16.
And of course the rest get their picks in order. This does not give a team the ability to get several top draft picks. They only get one and this takes away the impetus to tank. It is...
As the condolences thread is inappropriate for such discussion I thought it best raised here.
Pratt was the man who saved the Carlton Football Club and he was a generous philanthropist who gave to many charities,
By the same token he, and Visy, knowingly broke the law and stole off the...
As a result of the economic downturn we can expect another crisis to hit in the later months of this year. Consumer confidence is low, incredibly low. Retail and hospitality businesses will not be able to pay their mortgages. The reality of this situation is nothing short of terrifying. Retail...
Sporting personalities are famous for making products after their retirement or during their careers. George Foreman and his grill is an example of this.
What products do you think AFL personalities could become famous for?
I know the club may(or may not) have acted in reprehensible ways. This does not change a thing for me.
The club is part of me. It makes me who I am. True supporters know that no matter what happens, they will always be Bulldogs. Lets forget about the behind the scenes stuff guys. This is a...
