Last year Dermott Brereton suggested that Hawthorn were playing well a season early because they needed one more year of good draft picks. We are at a similar stage in our rebuild and have received another good draft pick so hopefully this year we are ready to go. -

Interesting point about finishing low enough to get a decent draft pick. Dermott Brereton, mid season, mentioned that he was worried about Hawthorn doing too well because they needed one more good draft. Last seasons poor result may be a blessing in disguise. -

in 2020 we didn't win a game until round 17 and were thrashed most games. We played young players in the middle and rarely got the ball out thus we always seemed to have the ball in the backline. The forwards hardly saw the ball and we rarely scored more than a goal a quarter. I doubt the... -

Bairstow was an on baller and started on the wing. The older players (particularly McDermott) grew tired of Cornes. Robert Shaw lost the players because he was old style fire and brimstone.
