He’s a medium half forward. Crafty type and seems to have good running ability getting up and down the ground

Had a look at EM vs Chelsea Heights. EM very impressive with their run and carry on top of the ground in the ideal conditions. New recruits all contributed well. Don’t look like they’ll be as reliant on Morrisby this year. EM should be thereabouts at the pointy end of the season with Highett...

This was my thoughts too that the bottom 6 player depth in the VAFA top sides might make the difference between them and most of the other top suburban sides (Heidelberg supporters could probably justifiably disagree)

Where do we see the standard of VAFA against the other suburban comps nowadays? How would OB go against the Heidelberg team that has powered through the Northern League the last 4 years? I think the 2018 SKOB and 2023 Collegians outfits would have beaten any other club teams in those years but...

Maybe Xavs should have played their reserves team….i heard they’re really good. FWIW Collegians beat Scotch twice this season but who’s counting. G.Natt becoming a master coach. 3 rounds to go and sat 3 games and percentage outside finals. No Valentine or Sellars up front. Nothing to lose next...

I read the original post from XAFL as inferring that Xavs had basically played their ressies when the 2 teams met -given Fisher and Stavrou were out - but yes all teams are injury affected on any given day and no excuses should be used to that effect

    A Section Premier A 2025

But a team with a percentage over 95 in A grade wouldn’t lose to Xav ressies so it’s a moot point. Agree OB will win their first flag. Best overall team I saw this season over the 2 legs (best team performance was Xavs the first time around against Collegians)

Aah so no mention/excuses of the Collegians injury crisis by their coach or players all season - the first time they played Xavs they had 9 or 10 out and no midfield - but now the narrative of they were lucky that other teams were rolling out their “reserves” against them. Lions debuted 3 as...

Jack Hill the blind miner could see that SKOB’s round 18 team selection screwed Collegians over. The final ladder was decided on Friday afternoon. But yes it was Collegians fault they allowed themselves to be put in that situation. If you don’t want a rival to screw you over then win more...

Harry Hill went off with a calf during the 3rd quarter the week before. Genuine injury concern. Otherwise Brighton seemed to play pretty much a full strength team

Which made it all the stranger that the 13 SKOB rested players have 3 weeks between games. Rolled over on the momentum of a 7 game winning streak as well. Time will tell

3 things can be true at once. Collegians are the architects of their own demise by not winning the close games. SKOB threw Collegians under the bus with their round 18 selection. Their normal team wins that game by 6 goals or more. It was SKOBs right as a matter of self interest to make that...

Yes Scotch had a few VFL missing but Collegians also had half a dozen VFL outs. All teams are affected by those. Also players of the likes of Beilby, Bazzani, Hibbins out with injury. They’ve also now beaten Scotch 3 times in last 12 months so it was no unique event. Realistically this year...

Interesting that all the coaches, VAFA media (and seemingly punters on here) have got off Collegians. Sure they have lost a couple but Hibbins, Warren, Mayhood, Canny all Premiership players who could hardly get on the park last year and suiting up for round 1 tomorrow. OB the team to beat...

Collegians won by a goal. Definitely a few players missing but think both teams would be happy with the quality of the hitout

Did his last 2 years at Wesley. Yes understand to be a 1 pointer you have to be at a school for minimum 3 years. Anyway Plats I’m ok that a little bit of outside talent supplementing a club can be a good thing. In the case of Collegians drawing from a co-ed school (and thus a smaller talent...

Thomas went to Wesley and best mates with some of the Collegians boys. Played Old Carey out of school through their alignment with Coburg when playing VFL. From memory maybe only Beilby and Nick Canny were non Wesley outside of Mirra and Sof in the flag. The argument can probably be shared -...

I hope the young man is allowed to play. Clearly disadvantaged by the move to a Friday game. But given at AFL level they’ve set an odd number of 12 days which clearly meant 1 game, surely if they meant 2 games at local level it would be a mandatory stand down of somewhere between 15-20 days. The...

I think there was a fair bit going on at the time re the home crowd and an ex Scotch lad playing down back for Collegians. Scotch players seemed to get caught up in it given they gave away a couple of undisciplined free kicks late which prob cost them the game. You’d think both coaches will...

Herald Sun local footy report this afternoon saying Harry Hill will miss the finals series. Includes quotes from his coach. Sounds like he’s ok but the GF falls 1 day short of him serving out his 21 day mandatory stand down. If the GF was on the Saturday he’d be ok. Sad for the young man. No...

All good points XXXX and may well be the reality of how it plays out. But a bookie is always going to make the team who finished 3 games clear a slight favourite. Bookies would also take into account that OB didn’t have a lot to play for in the last round and still won. An advantage for the team...
