    Training 2024 Pre-season training

Small defense allows us to play the 4 tall forwards. English will have been instructed to constantly drop back and cover the holes in the defensive half after his centre ruck work, allowing Darcy and Lobb to cover the forward half ruck work.

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

For me this is by far the best thing about recruiting Sanders. Bont was fatigued from doing too much of the inside work in the last part of the season. One of the key reasons why we stayed in the top 2 for majority (sigh) of the year in 2021 was that Bont had more of an OUTSIDE component to...

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

I think we should flesh it out more, how Sanders can help us in the short term. How do we think Treloar and Bont will be utilised with Sanders helping out Libba and Macrae (who I hope will go back into being full time mid)

Also with hawthorn being desperate during trade period to get a key defender.. surely they select Curtin. That pretty much confirms we will have a choice between Watson and Sanders :)

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Thinking through recently. It’s a toss up for me between Watson and Sanders. I was leaning towards sanders previously, but now I think I’m hoping for Watson more. His sheer ability to kick loads of goals can’t be ignored. He ended up kicking more goals then Jed Walter at the champs, who...

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Interesting. So if Curtin is indeed picked up before us, then we will have a choice between Watson or Sanders which will be fantastic. I will be fascinated to see what the dogs do in that situation.

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

We know Bevo loves to double down on our strengths. As much as we now have a different set up with new assistants, we aren’t going to change the fundamental way in which we play. And that is based on the handball game. Sanders very much adds to that. Watch the vision, his handballs are...

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Good point with Macrae. Yer the inside mix is a hard one to get our head around for the next period. I think he can return back to his best next year. He is a competitor beast, and will be Uber determined over preseason. To make this work, we need to ask Smith to be known as the best...

I think sanders will be able to facilitate this from the get go… he is ready made and super fit. look at the impact will Ashcroft had in his first year. On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Interesting listening to Bont end of year video in which he spoke about playing a lot more inside mid position this year. Recruiting Sanders could really help release Bont, which could go a long way with helping our inside 50 efficiency…

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Great interview with Matthew Croft. Gee I think Jordan Croft would be an amazing CHB.. 200cm and can run like nick Blakey (Clever comparison from Kayne). What do you think our starting back line will be in 3 years time? I think JOD for the bull back role, then Jordan Croft for CHB, and...

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

My issue with not picking Sanders is that we won’t get a shot at another quality mid in the draft till 2025, which means first year will be 2026…

Can’t agree with you anymore. We have too many flashy types atm. We need more of the 2016 type dogs brigade.

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

This is why we should really consider taking both Watson and Sanders. If it’s not Smith, then maybe English is the one to go?

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

We could really really do with both Sanders and Watson. I think with how much we need to spend to keep both Jamarra and English (and Naughts already), I think we need to be proactive with Smith IF he is a good chance to go next year.

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

Sanders does make a lot of sense for us for the long term. We really should be thinking of long term needs. The timing of it makes perfect sense too. I’d imagine he would take over from Libba in 2026.

The way I see it is that if WC hold on pick 1, we will get Curtin, since WC would be crazy not to select Ried. If North Grab pick 1, we will end up with Watson.

Strategy Trade and List management Thread Part 6 (opposition supporters - READ posting rules before posting)

I think if we ended up Watson AND Curtin (for smith) that’s a pretty good result. Obviously the concern then is the lack of pace in the middle, but I think we can mitigate that by bringing up Watson and Harmes around the contest

I just got the vibes from 2013 draft when a lot of you wanted James Aish (Mckercher) and we ended up with Bont (Curtin)

We can have our own version of Bobby hill next year in a fitter version of Arty Jones. Add in Nick Watson and all of a sudden we have great pace next year in the forward line.

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

The timing of getting a centre square mid is interesting. We can’t fit them all in right now already. BUT we clearly have a issue now with our current mix, so at same time would like someone new into the mix. What does that mean for our other mids is difficult, since we have seen they...

    Opinion 2023 AFL Draft Prospects

+ Charlie Clark .. don’t loose faith in this guy. He obviously got really impacted by injuries this year. So that would be 6 forwards taken in the first round of the draft.
