List Mgmt. 2025 Trade & List Management Thread

Hawthorn are running just Chol primarily. Sicily/Gunston chopping out but even then Sicily is 189cm, Gunston was 193cm at his peak due to aging is probably sitting comfortably at 180cm Although its not really about height and more about play style IMO.

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

Yeah thats fair and could definitely shift the market to increase for 3FRP. What would you even consider a 'fair' deal for Harley though?

Yeah but it didnt convince him to stay still and the return is never the same value as the known quantity? My main point is about the value in return for the player. You just aren't going to find equal value on any front IF he leaves but hey thats just my opinion

You risk a disgruntled player coming back to play for you only for them to request a trade the following year. See Tim Kelly when he first requested a trade to you guys from Geelong. So sure you can risk that happening or take the guaranteed value and run. Would you rather risk waiting until...

I agree with you on all of that. I just don't think it matters though because when a player requests a trade, you lose leverage in those scenarios and just wont get equal value back

This isnt even about Hawthorn, I dont even think they are in the hunt for him?

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

Im not saying he wont get a massive haul, but I will say it would be unprecedented to get 3 FRP for him so I would be hesitant to say it exceeds anything we havent seen already. JHF is the most likely comparison right? And this was NM return: Trade out: Jason Horne-Francis, pick No.1, 2023...

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

The contract has nothing to do with it though, you dont get extra picks in a trade because of the size of the contract. I think you get as much of a haul as possible IF it happens, but looking at recent trade trends, nobody has given up that much. It has to do with the limitations put on trading...

Would I say no to him coming to my club of course not, its Harley Reid you're kidding if you wouldnt do it if you had the chance. The two things are not mutually exclusive, I do want him to actually stay cause I like the group you're building pending they all stay.. Ginbey, Clay Hall, Hewett...

Obviously this is all speculative, I want him to stay in the west but if we are entertaining the idea of him leaving this year/next then unless you deal with Gold Coast I doubt you get 3FRP from anyone. Prime Jeremy Cameron went for less

Recommitted Harley Reid [extends contract to 2028!]

Merrett playing at this level is a guy Reid can learn from, feels like Merrett will age pretty well too. Yeah I understand Lalor looks the goods so I'll give you that, I'm just saying I prefer the Essendon guys at this point. Don't really think you can include Gibcus either, hasnt every been...

Recommitted Harley Reid [extends contract to 2028!]

Dont think so, the tigers I would argue have more Qs marks than Essendon. Not many of the people who brought recent success to the Tigers are still there, they have more unknown quantities than Essendon. I like the Dons young talent in Caddy, Kako, Durham more than the Tigers group so far...

The Three Kings: is our midfield pretty good now?

Awesome start to the year by you boys, I think what isnt being talked about here in regards to your midfield is ROB giving them unbelievable service as well going at 35% hitout to advantage on a huge volume across your first two weeks. Definitely been the best in the ruck contest to start the...

Ok well my bad, those picks are better than I first thought anyway. I'm not saying we get him for those two but look at trades throughout history, not many players in the modern era go for more than 2 firsts. Regardless if he does leave I think you'll always be underwhelmed with the return

Expansion A third team in Queensland? AFL acknowledges QLD3 as a 20th licence option

I think there will always be a surplus of talent but its on the clubs to cultivate it into something. Although the talent might be out there, its not just a 1:1 translation into the AFL. 18 is fine with me, but when you have struggling clubs like NM/WCE in last 5 years expansion seems a bit...
