That might have been the ultimate passage of VFL football. No legal disposals, no territory gained, none of the 10+ frees available paid, ball went nowhere.

Rumour GFC 2026 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

Someone here said they had inside mail that he survived the chop because the club believed he had talent but hadn't had a fair run with injury and that in particular a full pre-season would pay big dividends. Everything that has happened since seems to justify the mail and the theory.

Reasons for disenchantment / lower attendance

This shit is so funny, man. Imagine if the umpires only paid obvious free kicks - there would be 50 in the first ten minutes of every game and people like you would be screaming their heads off that the game had been ruined, it was a total disgrace etc.

    William Houghton KC sacked

Which is it complete odds with the actual actions and judgement of the tribunal, which is that players can't be punished harshly for what they say on the field because footy is hard.

Universal Love Tyson Stengle Possibly AWOL

Not to be a smartarse but based on the weekly 'you shouldn't be asking me who is fit, I don't know' dance at press conferences he remains in blessed ignorance until the team runs out on the ground anyway. I get his frustration that he's having to answer questions on something he can't control...

Universal Love Tyson Stengle Possibly AWOL

AFAIK this rests on Caro saying 'I was told that Collingwood players had said...but was unable to confirm' and a dodgy lipreading video?

Yeah because he is famously forthcoming when he can legally talk about things.

    The downfall of Fox Footy.

I guess it is not entirely their fault but very, very funny to have 360 go to air last night with a backing track of seagulls. Very loud seagulls.

Autopsy Cats lose by 1 point to Hawks in another Easter Monday classic

And the yoga mat. Looks like he lacks core strength. Which is partly why I’m bullish on him - I think the problems in his game can probably be solved by more time in the system/more preseasons rather than being constant flaws.

Autopsy Cats lose by 1 point to Hawks in another Easter Monday classic

I’m not anti-Wiltshire at all so let me rephrase: these are not guys who hunt defenders in the way Rohan or even prime Stengle and Close did.

Autopsy Cats lose by 1 point to Hawks in another Easter Monday classic

Yeah, just can't win a ground ball inside 50 and can't put pressure on at contests. If you think about the changes from 22 it's pretty stark - Rohan retired, Stengle not playing, Close out of form, Miers further up the ground. That Henry, Martin and Wilshire are all version of the same player...

Autopsy Cats lose by 1 point to Hawks in another Easter Monday classic

Would put my house on Guthrie carrying an injury and Cameron is still visibly sore in his arm. I think we're carrying senior players because there just aren't replacements ready/fit at the next level.

    On the weekend I played...

Played Flash Point for the first time in ages over the weekend. Remember being bored of it because it felt too easy and the harder rule sets too complicated/contrived, but had an absolute blast. Maybe we just got lucky the previous times.

Opinion Competitive balance - The AFL's most divisive topic

Think any review of TAC teams of the year will show the exact opposite - it is very rare for the competition to produce two KPDs taken first round in the same year.

    Essendon coteries and factions

Do you think the influence of the coteries is slightly overexagerrated in media accounts precisely so they don't have to talk about Sheedy?

Oppo Camp Non Geelong football (AFL) discussion 2026 - Part 1

OK, the case for keeping Voss for most of the season: the reasons they are crap cannot be solved easily in season, they've committed to at least a mini-rebuild, and they've got a F/S this year who will probably go Top 3. Let him soak up the heat and improve the draft position for 2/3rds of the...

Review Cats keep the streak on Crows at KP by 8 points

I don't know, seems intuitive to me. A player who is simply trying to touch the ball before it goes out is by definition not trying to keep it in.

Review Cats keep the streak on Crows at KP by 8 points

So I looked it up and 14 disposals is above average for a general forward, the effective disposals were average and the disposal efficiency was below average. Clearly he is not the finished product but I think he had a decent game considering his position last night.
