Being on the waitlist is the age-old dilemma of you wanting your team to do well, but that when that happens, the waitlist moves slower. You want the team to bottom out for a few years so that older members aren't as inclined to hold onto their seats and the waitlist speeds up.
To be fair, you can say that about every single person who's never had a head coaching role in their time before, including our past two premiership coaches.
Not sneaky in the slightest.
Membership renewals are always for the memberships you finished the previous season with.
Can you imagine the furore if they removed memberships from someone's account without notice?
So let's say club A doesn't lose anyone to FA because its list management is under control.
Let's say clubs B, C and D all lose marquee players because their club's list management isn't ideal.
Clubs B, C and D all get compo picks in the first round, while club A - who did nothing wrong in...
His ESPN contract doesn't run out until September, so I'd suggest that since he's still being paid by Bristol, he won't be appearing on any media format until after then.
His HBO deal didn't necessarily mention that he'd be doing podcasts for them, so hopefully he'll be able to pod from...
He had a very good career, but isn't it a bit of a stretch calling John Kennedy Jr a superstar? If he's a superstar then we'd have to create a new term for about 10 of his teammates because superstar wouldn't do justice.
Couple of other things from after the game that I'm not sure the cameras showed:
While the crowd and Eagles were applauding the Crows off the ground, Luke Shuey ran over to the boundary line to give Rory Sloane a hug and chat to him before he went off.
The umpires actually lined up in front of...
Well, it's been a while but I'm back with two posts today.
There's my look at our Round 1 loss and then there's an open letter to Jimmy Bartel.
No, Jimmy's not an Eagle (dammit he could've been), but it's an issue that's close to me and I felt the need to have a chat to him.
Hi guys,
I had a piece of paper mistakenly chucked out on me yesterday that had the line bet values for Saturday's and Sunday's games taken on Saturday and Sunday morning as well as straight bet odds.
Has anyone been awesome enough to keep this data as well and can share it with me?
Cheers!
So the next live cab off the rank is another of the all-time greats:
The '4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)' was previously released on the Live 1975-85 box set (and ranks in his top 5 live performances of any song, ever), the 'Merry Christmas Baby has appeared on a number of Christmas...
I hadn't noticed actually!
And now I've gone and ruined my post count by replying. Oh well :)
Although to balance the ledger - I just noticed that the two DVDs I've sold on eBay this past month have netted me $99.94. So someone's trying to tell me something :)
Bradman and Ponsford's averages don't surprise me given the mountain of runs they scored. But I've always been amazed by Bill Woodfull's FC average.
Astounding average.
Haha, cheers. And just for being nice - here's the latest in the "Star Guide".
Apparently, Paul Dimattina wasn't just an "AFL Star", he's a "Bulldog great" too!
Great to see a thread about Free Agency filled with people who have no idea about what "Free Agency" actually is.
Restricting FA to only 2/3 of the competition is not Free Agency. Free Agency means that a player gets to select a club of his choosing. By limiting the amount of clubs he's to...
Four men have kicked 1000+ goals in WAFL history - George Doig, Austin Robertson Jr, Ted Tyson and Bernie Naylor.
Only Doig is in the Hall of Fame. Criminal.
Sorry, wasn't sure if you were including finals or not.
Doig kicked 11 goals in his two finals matches to get to 105 for the season. Neither Gook nor Tyson played finals that year, in fact Tyson got his 100 goals despite playing in only one win for the season out of his 19 matches.
How's everyone's memories? This time last year Simpson was all deference, working his way into the job and working with what he was given, happy to say he didn't know what to expect.
Now he's much more forceful and definitely in charge of the team. Am happy with this. Here's hoping the change...
OK - so I couldn't let the New England Patriots go just yet. But it helped. This one wasn't planned, but planning things has never been a strong point.
Searching for a hero
Back when shows like the Tower release were a pipedream, you got into the trading of concerts because the real thing wasn't available, and wasn't likely to be. You never made money off these things, and you hoarded the shows because they were so great.
But you did so because you knew that if...
Here's a few more.
'How Can a Man Stand Such Times and Live?' (Seeger Sessions is grand. Easily his best album post-Tunnel of Love)
'Paradise' from The Rising.
Not too much of a Devils & Dust fan, but 'The Hitter' is a stone-cold knockout. Better than anything on TGOTJ.
But you can't...
