2 bottom age B&F winners miss out in Watts and Dintinosante, seemed a bit stiff on face value. DPS, are you aware of the deficiencies in Watts' game?

    Preview 2019 Draft General Discussion

Quite often a big difference between B&F voting and those with genuine AFL attributes. Not saying either of these boys aren't future AFL players. Futures games and AFL Academies are picked in consultation with the AFL clubs, often resulting in some BF favourites being left out. From all...

    2018 Draft thread

At this early stage, doesn't appear to be the depth in talls as there is this season, however the recruiters I've spoken to from different clubs feel that the midfield/utility depth is greater next year. Consensus is that VM will be extremely strong and VC far better than this year. Those two...

Totally agree with you that it won't happen however the continual suggestion in the media that we accept the Pies 2018 and 2019 1st round picks but then give something back, thus diluting the initial offer, makes no sense to me at all. Not having a go at you BB, but this agenda - seemingly...

    Rumour Beams coming on heavy, hot and strong (Beams & picks 41 & 44 for 18, 56, COL's 2019 1st rd)

Dayne put the club in a tough spot once he nominated Collingwood. Line in the sand moment for me. a) Collingwood comes to the party, b)stays with us for the remainder of his contract or c)let him return to Melbourne for welfare reasons, but he remains on our list and enters early retirement. As...

Not making comment on Garoni specifically, but clubs accept that many of the boys drop off towards the end of the season. Not uncommon for boys that participated in the Nationals, especially some of the lighter frame ones, to plateau or drop in form in the back half. Conditioning programs for...

Doing some good work however apart from yo-yo (avg 20.6), he was above average in both 20m and agility.

    Preview 2019 Draft General Discussion

With the proposed changes to the Academy, as previously outlined, still 5 or so VM players to be added plus 2019 bottom agers to get to the 30 quoted for the VM Academy. The list of 25 that you quoted, has 15 VM and 10 VC from what I can gather.

I've heard the 25 you're talking about are the invitees to the Academy, have you heard the same? If so, shows how far off us amateurs are most of the time. Plenty of development left n most of the list, which isn't always the case with the more influential players at this age.

So what can anyone tell me about this Sam Flanders kid from Gippsland? Plays with the physical maturity of a 22yo already. At this stage has shown more as a forward, with his 1v1 work a highlight. IMO he's hard to put line against, purely due to the question of his upside. Don't see him having...

Future star squad for GF day should become public this week. Traditionally a great starting point for next years draft- with the clubs having a fair input into the composition of the sides.

Agree 100% with what you've said Chris. Cal is generally pretty close to the mark with what he says. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however in general the amateur watcher sees the most dominant or highest possession winners and base their opinions around that. The Pros don't care about...

    Under Age U16 National Championships

Whilst being selected in an u16 state team is a great recognition, the 16's carnival generally isn't a true reflection of how strong the draft will be in two years time or how draftable a young player is. So many of the players have reached close enough to their full physical potential by the...

All the listed weights are done pre-season, some as far back as November. I believe that Walsh is currently in the 73-74kg range, which is fine at this stage of his development.

Very much depends on the TAC Cup region involved. Common knowledge that some TAC regions are more than happy to accomodate recruiters request whilst others less so and as such, are seldom asked to do so. State programs are the same. The more you see players thrown around positions mid game...

Please don't get me wrong, the kid could and probably will be a star. The point I'm trying to make is that the pressure we put on these boys is sometimes way over the top. I'm not beyond reproach, I've done exactly the same in the past. With mental health being a major concern in the community...

No issue with anything you've posted, just for clarification it's my view - after watching him live and on vision a number of times - that his contested marking is average. Against smaller bodied, under-age opponents he is still prone to double grabbing or dropping contested marks. Doesn't...

I'd go even further Jason, I would have no hesitation in swapping pick 1 for Kelly alone - on the proviso we had him locked in for 6/7 years. The only kid from this years draft that I see being a locked in 200 gamer is Walsh. For all the possibilities with Lukosius, the fact that his contested...

Is it a name mentioned on here or have you been speaking to some recruiters? A couple of names floating around that are seen as high end picks that never get mentioned on these boards - which is probably good for those boys.

Review Round 12, 2018 - Brisbane Lions vs. Essendon

Hard to find 5 good players. Appears I'm very much in the outer but I thought Rich and Witherden were average at best. Meaningless stats. 9-10 of our guys wouldn't get a game in any side outside the bottom 3-4, so we probably shouldn't expect much more at this time.

Not saying they're not good enough but don't think metro will play 6 bottom agers in the first game. Even though every side wants to win, these are still essentially showcase games for this years draft. Metro are traditionally pretty good at adhering to the wishes of the recruiters. On...
