It's unpleasant, it's frustrating but there isn't much of an alternative.
Have to keep playing Dow, Ralphsmith, Maurice, Miller, and the rest and hope for steady improvement. With who's out we really don't have options.
I would prefer Pickett and McIntosh were phased out. I would have...
You can whinge all you like about Koschitzke, the truth is he's in our best 23 right as we speak. There is no one healthy on the list who replaces him.
This is the performance I was expecting last weekend. It's too many small, inexperienced players in the one side to be remotely competitive, even against a truly sh!t team like WC.
How often has “full rebuild”worked? Can’t remember the last one that turned around in less than 10 years. It’s a crap, crap idea. With no senior players to teach the young draftees and rookies, the only thing they learn how to do is lose.
Yes it’s time to start putting a line through our 30+...
I do not like this. I do not like this at all. if Gale is Tasmania-bound, More than any person (including Gale or Hardwick), Balme was responsible for turning us around. I fail to see the necessity of this.
I don't think we are contenders for next year, so all I really wanted out of the trade period was a better draft hand. We got that.
I would say, the Soldo to Port thing is a legitimate win-win-win scenario. Port needed new ruck energy, Soldo needed to be a number one somewhere, and Richmond...
Who should we target? Blah blah!
NO ONE. We should be trading out for picks. ANY picks.
If Port want Soldo - strike a bloody deal. Ryan will be 25 by the time we are even near a premiership window.
Maybe. Or maybe there is nothing going on because we overrate our current list. Who knows? I doubt the club runs a tighter ship in that regard than any other club.
I don’t think you can fully judge McQualter based entirely on the past few months. It’s a game plan he inherited. Personally I like the Leppitsch redemption arc but I don’t think McQualter would be a disaster.
I cannot see how we improve with Pickett, McIntosh, Soldo, and Graham in the side.
All premiership heroes but if any stay on the list it must only be as depth.
For next week, we've got to find a way to get Sonsie, Ryan and Banks into the side. And not at the expense of other kids.
The positive...
Defensively awful. Seriously, if the zone stuff is not working make a damn change and man up.
I'm also wondering why two rucks who are largely ineffective up forward. Ryan is serviceable enough in the ruck and at least offers something up forward.
Very frustrating.
As far as the midfield goes, remember it is the Bulldogs’ one wood, so our clearance work is okay. It’s that next possession that was a real problem. Bolton is quick, but who else? Maybe Baker?
Cumberland needs to be told, you’ve got three weeks in the seniors, so go out and enjoy yourself without worrying about getting dropped. Put Ryan in and out with one of Nank or Soldo, and bring in Sonsie and Dow on the wings because it’s clear Macintosh and Pickett are not part of our next...
There are a number of mitigating factors.
Rusty after the bye (no team has won the week after the bye against a team that played the week before); Dusty and Prestia out, followed by Short; Brisbane in Brisbane in full flat-track-bully mode.
The loss is not as bad as the score line suggests.
MRJ needs to play as soon as he’s fit. Maybe he doesn’t get more than 10 touches but we seriously need someone up forward who can chase. Ball comes out way too easily.
As frustrating as it is to watch, I can’t help but feel that there is little choice other than putting more AFL games into players like Ralphsmith, Sonsie, Dow, Ryan and Cumberland. And not just off the bench … I mean whole games, in the middle.
All have clear deficiencies in their games but...
