People keep bringing up Palmer but Palmer had a great year; better than Burton.
I just don't see any rational way anyone rates McGrath's year over Burton's. Maybe Goddard was right; it is just rigged.
Each of those players had a better season than the one they beat.
As did Burton over McGrath.
This is nothing more than a media driven result and is pathetic.
Thought it was between 1:30 & 2:30?
Also I'd say Burton should win but there's definitely been a massive push by the media for McGrath so wouldn't be surprised if that gets him over the line.

Another well written unbiased article.
Executive Summary
McGrath should win because of all these reasons...
Conversely McGrath has been a short priced favourites since word one compared to Burton who has come in from $251...I'd say the betting agencies would be more likely to lose money on Burton than McGrath...
Are you implying that a summary of:
Burton got beaten in a practice match
Didn't even play round 1
Had a good game round 2
Isn't a fair representation of Burton's year?
Profiles from our AFL overlords
Started in the VFL after a pre-season touch-up from Brett Eddy, but immediately stamped himself on return as a Rising Star contender with an impressive job on Taylor Walker, complete with a then career-high 26 disposals.
Essendon's first-ever No.1 draft pick...
24 hours till this ridiculous thread of systematically dismissing every form of potential method of valuing one player over another and then immediately suggesting one such method can be closed.
Matches pretty much every rating system in the AFL and what the media are saying as well.
i.e. from the AFL site it goes Burton 4.5; McGrath 3.9; SPP 3.2; Curnow 2.0; and Other 1.4
Personally'd I'd have Curnow a little higher and SPP a little lower but still about right.
Nonsense. Haven't you heard what Merrett and Goddard have to say? Also there was a very informative article written for the Essendon website by Tony Shaw paid for by Essendon about McGrath.
