What are the biggest finals upsets you can think of?
Tonight's win by Freo would be right up there along with the 99 prelim between Carlton & Essendon.
I noticed a lot of Hawthorn players slipping over against Sydney but didn't notice any of theirs slipping over.
Just a coincidence or were some of our players wearing the wrong footware?
Was quite frustrating at times.
Deserves his own thread after his brilliant performance against Carlton. His shutting down job on Judd was a massive factor in us winning the game.
Best game i have seen Jordan play.
Well done son. :thumbsu:
As the title says out of those 3 players who should be this weeks sub?
I would personally go Ladson as i would like to see Bruest given a full game and Ozzy can run through the midfield at times.
I would like to see Bailey as the main ruck & Hale as a forward and fill in ruckman. I don't think we can go with just 1 ruckman as i can't see another player who can pinch hit now Roughy has gone down.
I would also like to see Lisle brought in and played as a permanent forward.
Either Bailey...
5 goals down at 1/4 time.
2 men down early into the 2nd quarter.
We had every reason to lose today but dug deep to play our best 3 quarters in the last 3 years.
This is the first time since the 08 gf that i have been genuinely excited about some of our players mainly the kids. Keep playing...
The last 2 weeks have been a big disappointment for everyone and i decided to look up our record against the non victorian clubs in their home states.
This is what i found:
Adelaide : 1 win since 1994 (2008)
Brisbane : 1 win since 2000 (2008)
Port : 1 win since 2001 (2007)
Sydney : 1 win since...
Personally i think it is time for Hodge to be captain next year (if he wants it of course) he is our best player and obviously our onfield leader.
Nothing against Mitchell i just think it is Hodgey's turn and would be disappointed if he never got a shot at it.
Forget trying to win enough games to play finals we are not good enough and would be making up the numbers if we did happen to make it by some miracle.
We need to fix our defence NOW not at the end of the season and not with band aid fixes like last year with Tom Murphy & Robert Campbell.
A...
According to the afl sites injury list it has Burgoyne listed as Hamstring - 4 weeks but on the Herald Sun site injury list he is not listed at all.
Has he reinjured his hamstring or has the afl site made a mistake?
After a pretty intense game last Saturday night against West Coast and having to get up 5 days later what sort of affect do you think it will have on Brisbane tomorrow night?
Personally i think it could have big affect late in the game. If it is close at 3/4 time i would expect Carlton to run...
With Adelaide having an injury riddled preseason and missing 4 or 5 starting 18 players i just can't see them beating Freo at Subiaco on sunday.
Anyone else agree?
Which player that is pulling on a Hawks guernsey for the first time this weekend are you most excited about seeing?
Josh Gibson
Carl Peterson
Rhan Hooper
Jarrod Kayler-Thomson
Personally i am looking forward to seeing Peterson. Looked like an excitement machine against the Dogs.
Two of the best young defenders in the comp which one would you pick for your team and why?
I know Carlisle is a few years older than Pears but both have shown they have a big future.
Where would you like to see Luke Hodge play this season?
Personally i would like to see him play mostly midfield to shut up the critics that say he is only a hbf.
Mine would have to be Round 5 2000 at AAMI stadium against Port Adelaide.
In an otherwise dull game Croady kicked 6 goals single handedly winning us the game and signalling he had really arrived.
I remember the headline in the paper the next day 'Croad train derails port adelaide'. Brilliant.
In my opinion only 3 players that played in the premiership side played to the level of consistently that we know they can last season.
The 3 i am thinking of are Mitchell, Sewell & Rioli.
A fair few were due to injury others were due to poor form.
Surely we can't be as bad this year.
What the hell has this guy actually done for us that has been any good? As far as i can see he has:
- Given up too much for Gibson & Burgoyne in trade week.
- Given away Kennedy & Mc Glynn for practically nothing. Why not offer kennedy a 2 year deal?
- Wasted high draft picks on players like...
Well done for going through with trading Fev. I for one didn't think you had the guts to get rid of him.
You got a reasonable deal and although losing Fev will definitely hurt you short term in the long term i think you will be the winners out of it.
I am not sold on this guy at all and i don't really know that he has done a whole lot for our club at all since he has been here. He seems to attract a lot of negative publicity towards us.
I hear talk about how great he is in trade week but i have yet too see it.
Big week coming up for him...
Are Carlton really serious about trading Fev or is it just a front?
Personally i don't think they are serious about it at all. They have no real intentions of getting rid of him.
They will say a suitable trade wasn't able to be reached and he will remain at Carlton.
Carlton's massive choke tonight would have to right up there but can anybody name any other big finals game chokes?
Another one that comes to mind is Hawthorn's epic last quarter choke in the 84 grand final where we blew a 4 goal lead and ended up losing by 4 goals.
