Autopsy Round 8, 2026: Positives and Negatives vs Richmond

This is a fantastic summary of where things stand. I was pulling my hair out watching multiple forwards aimlessly chase the same player, leaving others free for the inevitable handball. Champion, Shanahan and CDT were particular culprits, but it was happening in the D50 too, resulting in...

Autopsy Round 8, 2026: Positives and Negatives vs Richmond

Tylar Young seems like he hates physical contact. Brock is the same. No body work to stop his opponent from having an easy run at it and no real desperation in his game. The antithesis of Ginbey. Hough has regressed into a genuinely poor footballer. Always a step behind his opponent and offers...

Autopsy Round 8, 2026: Positives and Negatives vs Richmond

Trawling new depths, looking for rock bottom. In awe of their ability to find new ways to disappoint. Have been a member for 25 years but this one has finally broken me. Not going to turn up until the tolerance of mediocrity and apathy goes away. Mini can f*** off. Duggan can join him. Not...

Prediction Round 8, 2026: Changes vs Richmond

Strikes me that they’ve picked the team to try and win this week - knowing that it is our best chance for a win for the rest of the year and we are in desperate need of a morale boost. I don’t like it. I’d rather see Bo Allan and Tom Gross learn how to win, rather than playing Tom Cole and Matt...

Butler is my early favourite. Desperately need talent and creativity in the forward half.

List Mgmt. Welcome Tyler Brockman (Traded for Picks 44 and 63 in 2023)

What does firsthand mean? Are you a lawyer? Police officer? Victim? I’ve been a criminal defence lawyer since 2016 and I’ve dealt with more wounding/GBH/assault matters than I can count. I’ve never encountered a prosecution proceeding to trial for a wounding without the cooperation of the...

List Mgmt. Welcome Tyler Brockman (Traded for Picks 44 and 63 in 2023)

The charge may occasionally be downgraded but to say that a broken jaw is AOBH is plainly untrue. One of the first things WAPOL will do is get the treating doctor to tick the “GBH box”. Please explain why, at law, there is a distinction between AOBH or GBH and wounding in terms of requiring a...

List Mgmt. Welcome Tyler Brockman (Traded for Picks 44 and 63 in 2023)

Broken jaw is usually GBH. The test is whether, without treatment, the injury would be likely to endanger life or cause permanent injury to health. If the broken jaw requires surgery (as most do), it will usually constitute GBH because without surgery there can be permanent issues with eating or...

List Mgmt. Welcome Tyler Brockman (Traded for Picks 44 and 63 in 2023)

An assault does require a complainant because otherwise defences like self-defence or provocation cannot be negated by the prosecution. Identity and causation of injuries are also issues. The State will not, under any circumstances that I’ve encountered, present an indictment for a GBH without...

    Prediction Best 23 - 2026 edition

I think we’ll probably see something like this to start: F: Owies, Waterman, Reid HF: Brockman, Shanahan, Cripps C: Maric, Reid, Duursma HB: Baker, Young, McCarthy B: Starcevich, Edwards, Ginbey R: Flynn, Yeo, Graham INT: Robertson, Hewett, Hough, Kelly, Duggan Players in bold don’t or...

List Mgmt. Welcome Willem Duursma (Pick 1, 2025 National Draft)

I said it on draft night and I’ll say it again: taking three Vic boys who are all good mates is an absolute masterstroke of recruiting. Getting Rowell and Anderson together and then being able to retain them really created the core of what Gold Coast are doing. Hopefully these boys can do the same.

List Mgmt. Welcome Sam Allen (Pick 29, 2025 National Draft)

One of the more impressive pressers that you’ll see any player have. To give thoughtful and reasonably eloquent responses to all of those questions on the fly in your first ever press conferences is crazy. I public speak for a living and I’m genuinely impressed.

List Mgmt. Welcome Fred Rodriguez (Pick 1, 2025 Rookie Draft)

Letter grading is very 2024. Now we compare traits to different animals. I rate Fred’s athleticism an around a Hyena level, although I doubt he has the same bite force (one of the highest in the animal kingdom).

List Mgmt. Welcome Willem Duursma (Pick 1, 2025 National Draft)

Insane take. He’s 193cm, runs like the wind, takes big marks and kicks goals. One of the least Gaff-like prospects i’ve ever seen.

Game Day The 2025 Draft Day Thread

Would prefer Blamires, or a flyer on someone like NHH, BOB or Greeves, rather than having an SSP train-on. Macrae and Schoenberg really should have been train-on candidates anyway. The only train-on players that interest me are Elijah Hollands and Gabriel Strumpf, unless anyone has any better...

Game Day The 2025 Draft Day Thread

Yeah this is it. The Baker “commitment” and trade. The Brisbane trade. The Chesser trade. Extending Cripps on the main list. Keeping Barnett (but drafting CDT anyway, making Barnett totally redundant). Extending Cole after bringing in Starcevich. Committing to signing three(!) mature...

How does one look at what Harry Barnett served up and think “yeah, one more year of this” and then decide to draft CDT anyway.

Cripps and Barnett. Both off the list in a year anyway. Great job.

List Mgmt. Draft thread - 2025 (remaining picks: 29, 34)

He doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body and he seems to prefer being on the end of handball chains rather than being the one who starts them, so he’s not quite Sharp lite. With that being said, I wouldn’t be against taking a flyer on him. His form this year was pretty excellent.

Was it that we didn’t expect that they would match, or didn't realise that they could match? One is an understandable misjudgment, the other a total bungle.

Game Day The 2025 Draft Day Thread

Some random musings while I wait an eternity for my flight home: I’m tipping Lindsay to be an early debutant. He has a reasonably well developed frame and his advanced skills/decision making should allow him to adapt to senior footy quickly. I’m really confident that Lindsay will be a long term...

Underrated aspect of our draft haul: Duursma, CDT and Lindsay all seem to be mates off the field (if their Instagram profiles are anything to go by).
