    Player Watch #7: Zane Duursma

I wish I had the footage of Duursma congratulating Mark O’Connor for kicking a goal on him mid game. Absolutely hated seeing it and hope the coaches pointed it out to him. At a minimum have pride in what you do and be hard to play on. In my eyes it look like someone that didn’t care and...

Preview North v crows Saturday 27 @1.45pm in Hobart

100% The current backline is set up to play quick turnover, counter attack footy. There is only one problem, in order to do that you need to force a turnover, which that current mix can’t do. The balance is all out of whack.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

I think you are right. As painful as it might seem at the time, you can’t move forward unless everyone is on the same page, so if that’s the way it has to be, so be it. I know as a supporter and member, I am sick of seeing the lazy half arsed efforts by players that have reportedly checked...

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

From the outside I am just not seeing that mentality with our leaders. It may be very different behind closed doors, but the impression I get is that some of these blokes are too busy feeling sorry for themselves to be focused on lifting the club out of its current state. We have some young...

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

As much as it might hurt, if players are no longer committed (not saying LDU isn’t) then it’s best to let them go. It will hurt short term, but you can’t have a playing group that aren’t 100% committed to moving this club forward. We keep hearing reports of players that are waiting to see the...

Preview 2024 Mid Season Draft Prospects & Discussion

There will be some nervous state league players hoping that they slip past North. Coming to our dumpster fire is a career killer for these guys. They don’t get the latitude of a top end draft pick.

    Player Watch #15: Dylan Stephens

I think Clarko was hoping for Isaac Smith Lite and instead got the stench that would waft off one of Isaac’s turds.

    Opinion Is this rock bottom?

I actually think this gets worse before it gets better, which is ******* scary! This group is shot and there are worrying signs that some of our players that are actually talented look to have checked out. Jack Ziebell was cooked as a footballer in the end, but what I wouldn’t give to have a...

    Autopsy Autopsy v hawks

Well these blokes have it down to a fine art. They don’t dread losing at all and it shows with the lack of effort and brain dead mistakes that constantly happen. I would shudder if they think they are following the process, because if they are it looks like something Mr Squiggle has drawn up.

    Autopsy Autopsy v hawks

Well the process needs to shift. The process needs to become about winning and the consequences of losing. At the moment many of theses guys know they can phone it in, because there is no real consequence to losing. Same deadshits are still getting games no matter how many times they stink it up.

    Player Watch #15: Dylan Stephens

They would still be running around the ring avoiding each other well after the season had finished.

    Player Watch #15: Dylan Stephens

But didn’t you say his job was to run up and down the ground? So the bloke doesn’t know how to execute a role that is to purely run up and down a wing all day? Stop making excuses for a player that is nothing more than a lazy cat. Morrison gave him an absolute bath and lesson on gut running...

    Player Watch #15: Dylan Stephens

But he isn’t even running all day. At the ground you could see him giving Morrison 50-100 metres of space which invariably led to Hawthorn having a free to overlap. I get wings aren’t always the most accountable, but when Hawthorn have control of the ball you still have to work.

    Player Watch #36: Tyler Sellers

They are told to play to instructions. Unless you are an out and out superstar players aren’t given the licence to go rogue and do what they want. ****ed if I know what his instructions were, but I’m sure he didn’t just wake up and think it might be a good idea to ignore coaches instructions...

Resource 2024 Membership thread - it begins - with a kiss

I took my 10 year old daughter to the game yesterday and she loved it. I wish I knew what she loved about it, because I felt defeated watching us play. It’s not an enjoyable experience, so I can hardly blame people for not wanting to get on the car or on the train for 4pm on a Sunday to watch...

    Player Watch #36: Tyler Sellers

The best analogy for playing in this side, is it’s like rocking up to your first day of work, no induction and the team you work in is made up of people with less than a weeks experience or people that either are useless or don’t give a *. Imagine trying to integrate yourself into a new job...

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

Even Hardeman, who might not ready, but at least he has played as a defender and knows the requirements of the role. The way it is panning out, I just don’t see the value of having Fisher, McKercher and Scott playing as defenders when it’s not their natural game. Not everyone is Harry Sheezel...

    Player Watch #36: Tyler Sellers

That’s where we differ. You can’t keep throwing a bloke to the wolves after a 1 possession and 2 possession game and expect it to work. There comes a time where keeping him in that side is not only doing his confidence damage, but those around him. If he goes back and gets some confidence and...

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

The kid has wheels and can run, but he just isn’t big enough to defend. You have to remember he played his junior footy as an attacking midfielder and is now being asked to play in defence and is getting found out when it comes to defending. It just feels like a wrong call to try and turn him...

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

I think LDU’s biggest problem is LDU. From the outside looking in he has been off colour from the start of the year. Is it because he doesn’t like the direction Clarko is taking? Who knows? What I do know is that this bloke should be a marquee player in the comp and he just isn’t.
  23. R

    Player Watch #10: Colby McKercher

The kid can’t defend, he’s too small and not physically ready. Having more season forwards constantly brush him aside must be demoralising for the kid. Get him up the ground where there is more space and he can use those weapons. Also there is no harm with him playing VFL if he isn’t...

List Mgmt. Brady Rawlings | Head of Football Talent (Recruitment, LM & TPP)

Small forward aside. The biggest imbalance this list has is its key position prospects. I know it’s not the easiest of gigs to attract talent to a small struggling club, but we also have let some walk out the door along the way. Im ok with the McKay call and think along the way the decision...

    Player Watch #36: Tyler Sellers

Playing him would be detrimental to the player himself. He is most likely praying that he gets dropped so he can get out of the nightmare. What will interest me with Sellers will be if this defines his time at the top level? Will the scar tissue mean we never see him again or will he get back...

List Mgmt. Brady Rawlings | Head of Football Talent (Recruitment, LM & TPP)

The list balance is horrible and it’s been known for years. You can keep hanging your hat on taking the best available, but look where that has us now. We are literally pinning our hopes on an injury prone guy in his first year in the role, a guy coming back from a knee reco and an 18 year old...

    Autopsy Autopsy v hawks

It sounds crazy. But the guy has said it himself. He has stated repeatedly that he has overlooked his best options in favour of player learning. It’s a delicate balance, because if that learning makes you uncompetitive the damage of constantly being flogged and losing will far outweigh the...

    Autopsy Autopsy v hawks

The messaging has constantly changed throughout the course of the year. It’s gone from we are sick of losing and want to win, to we know where we are at and we can’t compete. It’s really horrible messaging to give a sportsperson what is essentially an excuse each week to not turn up. Yes...

Don’t worry about tackles. Luke measures his game by the number of bum pats and head ruffles.
