Unofficial Preview Changes & Pre-match Discussion: Round 9 vs. Geelong, Sat 09/05 at 7:35pm (MCG)

It does when our ball movement is as slow as a wet week. Speed and dare with our ball movement all of a sudden opens up plenty of space for Jamie and co. to work with.

They haven't won a game at a Senior Football Oval this season. All wins have come on their shit heap or at Norwood.

The overreaction to Moore's double blunder is laughable. He was a major reason why Jack Gunston didn't get a sniff of it. The blokes has been kicking snags in his sleep.

Just scratching the surface at AFL level. Very good at centre ball ups, as he continues to build full body strength and experience, his around the ground work will improve immensely. He's already shown his aerial ability as a forward.

It's just theatre. Whether he gets booed or not, it has no bearing on his game.

No, it's the complete opposite now. Luck has gone out the window. Tactics and an elite tap ruck win basically every time. Steene in 2-3 years will borderline unbeatable in there.

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

This sums Jordy's career up though. Threatens to rip the comp apart. Just when he's on the verge, he goes MIA. His first half was unreal. It's just a shame that he'll never be truly elite.

Couldn't agree more. King is a one trick pony. If we go after a tall, it should be Mitch Lewis. But, we need to do whatever it takes to get Butters next season.

The cliff aint coming. We can still go with the big boys. In fact, we still are one of them. Bring on the next 2 weeks.

An off night? The Hawks played well. They just came up against a team that isn't as cooked as many think (or hope).

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

There was nothing on. Our kick ins only ever go to the MCC side of the ground as well, regardless of which end we are kicking to. Josh did what he could, the blokes further up needed to kill the contest and didn't.

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

They're a campaigner of a club but they are extremely well drilled. Wings/HF's always hold width and that's why they kick it almost blind across the ground and find targets time and time again. In saying that, i thought our defensive pressure across the ground was top notch last night. It was a...

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

The Hawks are very good, but it's not as if they are some generational side. This season is wide open and we have shown we are in it up to our eyeballs. Just need to keep our eye on the prize. There's a long way to go.

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

We should have been able to ice the clock late. That last kick in just needed to find an uncontested mark in the back pocket. Possess the ball for an extra 15-30 secs and we hold on. Outstanding performance though, that efficiency was a thing of beauty. We've now dominated Freo everywhere...

Having an AA calibre start to the year. Simply does not get beaten in a contest. Our backline were immense once again, bar the double whammy by the skip at the death.

Picking out the 23rd picked bloke who actually played his role. Interesting take.

Newcombe is the no.1 clearance player in the comp. I would like to see Pez go to him. We haven't pulled that move out of the kit bag since he bathed Nas in opening round. It's time.

One of IQ or Parker will go to him. I'd be inclined to lean IQs' way but i can see an argument for Parker to go a hard tag on him. We play so systematically that it's likely it'll be IQ's job with help. The Wizard is a little campaigner but he's electrifying and sometimes just won't be stopped.

At least the Hawks are coming off a 5 day break as well so zero advantage when it comes to recovery for this game. I think it'll be really combative early around stoppages etc. It's whether we have the class on the outside to match them when the game does open up in the 2nd half.

Ginni has often spoken about the freedom he gets in the Hawks game plan compared to the rigid system at the Pies. I do think he plays well against us due to his knowledge of our system combined with his impressive Footy IQ. He will no doubt try to get Jaicos or Houston as his opponent knowing...

It's an interesting call. Buller looked miles off it at the start of the season. Credit to the lad, he has gone back and well and truly put the runs on the board. Similarly though, Westy has performed to a level worthy of a call up. He's probably the better like for like replacement for Skunk...

Game Day Match Discussion: Round 8 vs. Hawthorn, Thur 30/04 at 7:30pm (MCG)

Our entire defensive system is a zone, the highest defender goes at the ball carrier, and then the next defender pushes up to cover. Yes, they have an opponent but they do a heap of work to cover for one another. The Hawks will try and rip us apart with their ball movement by switching and...

While i agree that Steene is superior in the centre ball ups, he's nowhere near the calibre of DC around the ground. It's a great combo to have, we just need to keep unlocking its full potential.

Whatever way you look at it, this is a great test for our boys. The Hawks are clear flag faves (they'll dust the Swans or Dockers at the G). Moore, Long and Buller/West to come in. Although i'm not sold that Long should be a lock to return with the emergence of Angry. HH can't be far away...
