Ok then - How many high quality and sort after free agents have we signed to date, when we were actually half decent?
IIRC Hunt is probably our best and he wasnt sort after by other clubs and was basically on Melbourne's scrap heap after being in and out of the side.
Our history and starting...
I think everyone including the club would prefer McLuggage but there is just no way a Victorian would come to play in Perth, especially with us. Why on earth would he do it. Given all clubs are playing with the same salary cap, he will get the same money from a club in Victoria 100%.
English...
Simply do not understand the argument that we dont deserve a PP because "we did it to ourselves."
Every single club that ever gets assistance did it to themselves. Its not like a club had half a side taken out in a plane crash.
All clubs that got a PP drafted poorly. And, in regards to...
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldnt we have had access to Wardlaw if we had kept our pick? Would have been very happy with him over Sheezel to be honest. I think long term he will be the better player.
Sadly I agree with this. The issue is that blokes like Ginbey, Chesser and others are just not projecting as great picks (to differing degrees). They may turn out to be solid enough AFL players but the reality is that the people who picked these guys (who are largely responsible for this mess)...
I think he'll be a much better player when he feels like he's the man, yes. When he's stuck getting 10 posessions a game in a crap role I am worried where his head will go given he's never had that before.
What on earth is going on with Harley's role? He was spending stints in the graveyard that is our forward line yesterday, at FF no less. He is thrown around from stints in the middle literally playing on the best players in the game and then chucked to full forward?
What happened to the nice...
Heard a journalist who was at Friday's training say there was a real theme to get us back for last year. They will probably use that as motivation. I'm slightly worried they will come out with a chip on their shoulder. Hopefully they are just sloppy and we can get a good go at them. Sides like...
I think he's been a "good player", but when he was drafted it was hoped he would start off in defence and develop into a classy and hard midfielder. In his first year he showed signs that was potentially on the cards - but unfortunately he's stagnated and is really only a defender. Never really...
Ironically the AFL got the timing wrong and there is NRL on in Australia this week after all... So really the round zero thing is a complete waste of time
Much more pleasing results compared to last week. Was nice to see some players like Reid, Chesser etc get some ball. Gov also makes such a big difference when he's on.
Sadly dinosaurs like RoB will kill us this year. The flynn injury is such a kick to the balls.
I know its reallllllly early but geez I'm getting abit of a sick feeling about picking Archer Reid over Cooper Simpson (overlooking a very popular pick on here). Prove me wrong Archer.
I noticed this alot on the weekend. We didnt share the ball enough. I noticed it especially with younger blokes like Chesser and Reid, who had made reasonable position but the player with the ball chose to just bang it on the boot as far as possible. I think its really important to share the...
Agreed. He's serving a purpose now, particularly as the ball is down there alot and we are bereft of any run or play makers generally. But in reality he would be a part player for a good side like the Pies etc. Still a good pick up for us though.
I'd love him to make it but i just dont see it with JWilliams. Isnt athletic enough and doesnt get involved enough (partially due to his althleticism imo). I think we are flogging a bit of a dead horse there (ala McInness) but we'll see. I think the club is banking on him being a late developer...
We've changed fitness staff and the issue remains. The one constant is the new training facilities. I hope the club has properly investigated the quality of the ground.
"Because of the unusual nature of the injury, unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific but look forward to a fit and healthy Matt returning to the field.”
That is WCE talk for "reasonable chance he's gone for the season but dont want to tell you that right now"
Its also annoying that its...
Livingstone did fine but the worry is that he's a real tweener. He doesnt look like a genuine ruck or a forward tbh and isnt that althletic. I cant think of a player in the league like him, footy seems to have moved past these sorts. He would have been perfect in that 92/94 era.
Not really. We had lots of hard shots due to poor skills and field position. If we had missed a lot of shots from 30m out directly in front from well crafted pieces of play I'd feel alot better.
When you have a good team, playing crap in preaseason games is fine. Especially when you play finals and you are month behind other clubs in the preparataion.
When you are crap, you want to play well or at least show something in preseason games.
Its a bit different.
The real kicker are the basic unforced errors leaving D50 that results in instant goals to the opposition. If you want to be a half decent side, you just cant do it. We had about 4 that quarter alone.
