Hahaha I love it.
Billy gets points for taking it in his hands. So many of the really high marks you see end up chest marks… they cop an immediate downgrade from me.
Pick him up in MSD, play him as a sub for the last five minutes against Richmond in round 20.
Was going to say round 24, then 23… etc. FMD our last month home and away is brutal.
I agree North should be having frank discussions with LDU this season.
I disagree that he’s likely to be directly swapped for player/s from whichever club he ends up at, be it at the end of 2024 or 2025.
LDU isn’t going to agree to be traded to just any club, he would nominate one.
That club then needs to have the players you want.
The players from that club then need to agree to be traded to your club.
This is why most trades being done these days are for picks, which can be used as...
I get what you’re saying but with players who are out of contract, not being “allowed” to leave isn’t a realistic option. Who is matching RFA offers these days to force the player to stay? It’s only to force a trade, and no-one is going to be able to offer in trade what North would get in FA...
I don’t imagine that the Hawks wanted to lose Buddy, either, especially with the crap compensation they got. That doesn’t mean it makes sense to match an RFA offer though. There’s only so much cap to go around and decisions have to be made about who is going to be part of your next tilt at a...
Melbourne in their Trengove/Scully days were jettisoning experienced players like James MacDonald who was around 30 years old, wanted to keep playing and was playing at a high level, and it didn’t yield any compensation on to the club. It was madness.
A bit different to paying top dollar and...
If we don’t get after LDU as a FA then I just don’t know what cap space is for. We could hardly have a better prospective option. Peter Wright ain’t falling out of the sky again.
Perhaps. There was talk we were prepared to match a bid Reef at #9, and ended up asking GWS to bid on him in the mid 20’s or some such? Seems volatile.
Contact training can be done in various forms; you can have players go up in marking contests but not be tackled, you can have drills which are done in runners rather than studs so the torque forces are less, and so on…
… but for the most part, once you allow a player to participate in full...
Bit tricky if you’re, say, missing a second round pick and not sure where a bid is going to come. Do you trade for a second ahead of time? Do you have the ability to smash out an in-draft trade in time to get the appropriate pick and match?
I know teams will have pre-draft contingencies, trades...
I yelled at Cox to get rid of it, before he slipped that tackle and it resulted in a goal. I thought he held it too long and needed to take the first option. Oops!
Thanks Jen. A lot to like there. Seems to always be moving forward through traffic or through the contest, which means his “game speed” is going to be respectable even if his top pace isn’t amazing. Also closes down defensive angles and gives him an advantage getting to aerial contests.
If Ed...
