    Disappointing crowd. Should have got 70,000. Too bad the 2nd level of the ponsford stand was empty. Probably the smallest number of fans I have ever seen at a Collingwood game since the redevelopment of the ponsfkrd stand was completed for the 2006 Anzac Day game

    I go to quite a few Melbourne games due to my brother being a Melbourne supporter and there turnout of pretty much on par as the home game crowds at the mcg around 25,000. Collingwood would have had around 50,000 of their own fans. 77,000 is a fantastic crowd considering the freezing conditions

    Essendon only appeared to be bigger than Collingwood in the late 90’s early 00’s because Collingwood were down the bottom. In 2002 Collingwood started winning and overtook Essendon very quickly in attendances then in membership in 2003!
