That's my feeling. Along with the Warner speculation, naming Morris in the squad just feels like a PR strategy to get some interest in this series coming off the World Cup against two teams that don't tend to generate much interest for Aussies.
This would be ideal but I sadly can't see it happening.
Warner would have to REALLY stink it up in the first two Tests to not get his SCG farewell. More likely that he cashes in big time against Pakistan on home turf.
Warner plays until Sydney, then Bancroft plays rest of the summer. We go...
In the context of a fairly long tournament I imagine we may be open to resting Starc, Cummins and Haze at least once each. Though we've got a decent break now before our next game so perhaps not as essential.
Just scrolled through 5 pages of largely whinging to say well done Aus, what a win!
Our top order is in scintillating form. If one of Warner, Head and Marsh can score big each game and another make 50 then we can get by with our middle order being in fairly average form. The last few games have...
Until Head is fit:
1. Warner
2. Marsh
3. Smith
4. Labuschagne
5. Green/Stoinis
6. Maxwell
7. Carey/Inglis
8. Starc
9. Cummins
10. Hazelwood
11. Zampa
Once Head is fit:
1. Warner
2. Head
3. Marsh
4. Smith
5. Labuschagne
6. Maxwell
7. Carey/Inglis
8. Starc
9. Cummins
10. Hazelwood
11. Zampa...
It seemed Stoinis was used to open the bowling so Abbott could come in first change, which is what he might do in a full strength side as opposed to opening the bowling. Think I saw comments form Marsh that said as much.
I wonder how much of Zampa's form relates to his injury niggle vs...
The pre-game commentary was focusing on how good the pitch looked to bat on. Would be expecting some big scores.
at 5/187 England aren't tracking too well. Should be getting 400+ batting first on this deck surely.
P.S. With all the talk of baz-ball, how good to see Hazelwood turn the game with...
Day 1 of this Ashes was always going to be crucial, especially given the tight turnaround between tests. Momentum will mean a lot.
Aussies on top now. Just how we like it!
Is it just me or has neither side really looked threatening in attack all game?
In the game against Denmark I was on the edge of my seat in the first half, the Danes looked so threatening.
Aussies have conceded through two brain fades, and some sharp work by Argentina in key moments.
