Came within 8 points of the best team of the year, by far.
Backline brain fades again cost us. Not sure what is going on back there but Zuth and Bowes were at least not playing dumb footy.
Huge games from Atkins, Danger, Duncan. Cameron got a couple that shouldn't have been, but still would...
We look unbalanced back there- and the brain fades have been from every player. Even Stewart has turned the ball over at crucial times. No idea how to fix it.
I'll come out in defence of Atkins here. Vs. Tigers he was probably our best mid and easily in our top 5 players. Freo simply did a number on him. He was basically blocked by Fyfe early (who monsters everyone) and Serong most of the game. They did the same with Holmes. We were simply out of...
Yep. The kid doesn't want to be there, and the Pies should look after him and we should too. If he goes to the draft he'll go in the first round, I reckon.
My thoughts too, but I keep remembering Mackie was a well known sledging smart-a***. I just can't see him being that immature though. But still, it's a pervasive rumour.
I agree.
But I'm hearing the rumour that Mackie treated them like dirt and Collingwood walked out. They were offered a lower pick and they said that wouldn't do, and Mackie basically said "tough luck" and Pies walked out. Then Wells was recalled to do some damage control evidently. They will...
There's been a few games this year where I've said that the umpiring was intrusive and even overly influential. At least once I've felt that the umpries were trying to get noticed to secure their own finals gig.
I find the 15 metre and 9 metre rules far too weird a measurement for any hope of consistency. Time to put a few markings on the field to assist umps in adjudicating these strange measurements. Something.
It seems like they are calling for "blocking" if a player contests but simply gets in front of another player who contests. Weird. Last night they called a late 4th qtr block on the Lions when McCarthy marked in front of the goal square...but everyone was contesting legally as far as I could tell.
Can anyone explain this?
It seems that the rule is just some kind of mystical, arbitrary interpretation that is changing close games and leaving fans wondering where going to the contest and good body use ends and where blocking begins. In the last few rounds we've seen Carlton, the Dees and...
Pies will do their hyper last qtr thing and hope that once again, a weird decision or three from the panicked umps will go their way. Fans will be hysterical, and if Pies lose the G will be razed.
Pies by 15 points.
Seeds me old mate...we're usually on the same page, but on this, I'm thinking a little differently.
IN the last several games I've watched Atkins and seen his value. Interesting thing I have noticed- often he's the first link in the chain that leads to a score. I don't know how "score...
I hear ya! He leads our side by a mile in pressure acts and he's had some great moments this year, but he's "fringe", just like a few others who have more senior players to compete for the same position/role with. Not sure who's ahead of him for our second defensive mid rotation though.
Rohan kicked 3 in the Prelim vs. Brisbane in 2020. More than anyone on the field. In other finals he's played the ball didn't get down there much.
I think he's better up the field, so let's see how he goes this year.
Easily our second best tonight- at one point him and Zuth were keeping the team in it. The people that don't like him are the people that don't like anyone other than the big names anyway.
