60/40 he'll play. I reckon he'll get as much out of the NAB Cup as he would out of a month of NEAFL games, so if he goes okay in the pre-season I see no reason to keep him out of the side in round one.
I'll be interested to see what role he's going to play. Mobile marking HF seems the most likely.
Will largely depend on NAB Cup form. Wrigley most likely at this point just because he's the closest on that list to being ready for regular senior footy, and the only one to have played a senior game already. Plus there's a role for him in the team right now following Drummond's retirement.
Just to make it a bit more interesting, I've forced myself to include at least one player from each club.
B: Joel Macdonald, Bower, Logan
HB: K.Hunt, Jared Brennan, A.Selwood
C: J.Sherman, Savage, M.Campbell
HF: Stokes, Folau, L.Dunn
F: Dawes, Koschitzke, A.Everitt
Ruck: Z.Smith, Rischitelli...
We've established that prices were the same for both finals. I can't imagine that Sydney draw that many more fans than Freo, so...what's the story? I haven't seen one explanation on this thread that makes me any less confused than I was last night.
Is it really just that a lot of fans lost the...
I also thought it was very strange that Dawson had been preferred to Silvagni all season, but then Lyon chose to play Silvagni on Walker, who was obviously going to be Adelaide's most potent forward.
So far, the only argument Dan is raised in favour of this system (as far as I can tell) is that more teams in the finals = more live games = more crowds, more excitement etc...
I just don't see why 10 is a more appropriate number than 8. Or than 12. Or 4. Or 14. 8 makes sense because we can...
I probably wouldn't die in a ditch over losing Polec and pick 30. If Polec is up for trade I would assume the club are losing faith that he can ever get his endurance up to a level to really capitalise on his talent.
I'm more concerned about what we might pay him. The numbers getting bandied...
I think he might have changed his mind over the course of the season, actually. Can't recall too many games recently where he's played three tall forwards. No doubt in my mind that we look like a better team with a bit of space in the forwardline.
Personally not entirely convinced that Tippett...
I've had something strange happen. I think my account might have been reset back to 2005 or something. A couple of days ago I had over a 1000 posts, now I have about 200, I'm no longer getting alerts from threads I was watching, and all my inbox messages have been deleted except for a couple of...
Total Package, by your logic we should indeed put asterix's next to those years, because Collingwood in the 20s paid its players a hell of a lot more than 10% more than the rest of the competition.
In any case, maybe we should put an asterix next to Collingwood as runners up in 2002, given...
I can't believe Figjam has suggested that Brisbane managed O'Bree poorly. He played some excellent footy for us, and was in Collingwood's top handful of players in the first games of his first season there.
More importantly, Brisbane's track record of capitalising on potential is outstanding.
I'm getting very sick of this ridiculous argument that Headland can't shake a tag. In the preliminary final against Port Adelaide he had five different opponents at various times and was still the best player on the ground. He was a dangerous player all season, and superb in some games...
Do you really think Mick Martin is safe?
I like him as a player but I can't see him breaking into this side for a fair while, and he'll be 26 at the start of next season.
I can't see much point in keeping him on.
The problem with using Keating as trade bait is that it undermines our salary cap position.
If it's so much harder to keep interstate players than Queenslanders then why would we trade away a quality Queenslander who is keen to stay?
Figjam:
David Hale went in the draft before Brisane's first pick, which was 17. We had #6 the year before, when we drafted Cupido.
However, I think if we trade Clark Keating, a Queenslander who wants to stay, then that would be a good example of what you're talking about.
As a Lions fan, I wish Headland all the best wherever he goes. From what he said on the news it sounds like he'll be nominating for the draft.
I would be very, very surprised if we traded him now. If we trade Headland, then Luke Power, Nigel Lappin, Tim Notting, Simon Black and every player...
