Following on from fightingfury_88's fantastic work of season's past! I thought it would be a good idea to get this up and going again. I will drip feed these initial rankings as the day/week goes on and update them weekly.
ROUND 1: RICHMOND 14.8 (92) def CARLTON 12.11 (83)
GOALS
Richmond...
Does no one understand the sliding rule? Stupid AFL website and commentators lambasting Cotchin.
This is a slide:
Thomas goes LEGS first
This is a slide:
Goodes goes LEGS first.
This is not a slide...
Feel free to move this mods. Do we reckon Swan or Pendlebury for more Brownlow votes? Personally I think Swan....
Mod Edit: created new thread from post and added poll
#1 Greater Western Sydney - Lachlan Whitfield (184 cm, 74 kg) - 18 years old.
“Classy medium midfielder with rare awareness and decision-making ability complemented by skills either side with hands and feet. Is naturally gifted with speed and endurance and is strong overhead."
No secrets...
Our little pocket dynamo cannot seem to overcome his injuries, and biasness aside is one of the better clearance midfielders in the comp when fully fit. Also he is a free agent, so he may end up walking (being told to walk) to another club.
I was wondering what you guys think wouold be...
I feel we get stung more than other clubs.
Record lengths between AFL games.
-Cousins (doesn't count, but proves my point)
- Foley, Coughlan, Brown, Moore
Now Astbury. Possibly Grimes and Foley again.
Why is it always the good players?
Not really one for individual awards, although they are nice to see, Jack has a big chance to bridge the gap on Buddy and get himself back in the Coleman Medal race. It starts this week against the Suns.
GO JACK!
I'm not sold on the form of Houli/Batch/Dea but they will obviously keep their spots.
If Griffiths is injured Moore comes in (shut up Post is not a defender and no Derickx and McGuane will not play back to accommodate the lovechild).
Other than that I'd say:
Out: White (susp.), A. Maric
In...
Vickery gone for the season. We can now elevate another rookie.
Turner? No. Not yet.
Wright/Darrou? If I see another defender, I will puke?
Heslin? Obviously not.
Verrier? He has my vote.
I find it rather insulting that the great Western Bulldogs have not opened up an E.J. Whitten Legends game thread, couldn't care If there is one on the main AFL thread - I haven't checked - It should be here. . So I thought I'd do it out of respect for the great man, and your board could do with...
In my honest personal opinion:
Miller (r) - Just on the basis of, and despite consistency when playing, Elton getting a game, and only being a last resort option when someone else is injured i.e. Vickery and may be forced into retirement.
Post - The same as above, no proven track record...
7 wins 5 losses 120% and somewhere between 7-9 on the ladder after Round 13.
Am I getting too far ahead of myself?
v St Kilda
- no one defender can stop Jack
- game will be a battle of the midfield
- they have no ruckman
Tiges by 30 points.
v Fremantle
- They don't travel...
Someone comes out for Batch, probably mini maric, ellis a possibility too.
Height not an issue, STK won't win a hitout all day Maric & Vickery vs Koschitzke & Blake.
Minson, Griffin, Warnock, West, Jamar (free agent)
Do we want any of these?
As far as we're all concerned one of Derickx/Browne/Graham is going.
One of these would be a handy second ruck.
:thumbsu:or:thumbsd:
here's mine:
Shane Watson
David Warner
Shaun Marsh/Travis Birt
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey
Matthew Wade
James Pattinson
Brett Lee
Ryan Harris
Xavier Doherty/Nathan Lyon
David Hussey, Callum Ferguson, Mitchell Starc all in the midst as well.
Which of the rookies should we keep next season, delist, upgrade etc.
Happy discussioning :P
I am of the belief that Hislop, Hicks and Contin should be moved on.
Miller and/or O'Rielly should be elevated
Westhoff, Jakobi retained.
Tivendale's gone so that's one less we have to worry about but we still have the following players to consider.
Andrew Raines: Wonderful and a much required player at the RFC but may find it hard to weasel back into the starting 22. IMO we keep him but he also looms as trade currency...
I've gone through the fixture starting from the End of saturday rd 9 and done tips if im correct the ladder will be as following at the end of 08
